Thor: Ragnarok 8/10
Blade Runner 2049 5/5 - A masterpiece in it's own right, a perfect sequel that does everything a good sequel should, and has replaced Dunkirk as my MOTY.
The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials Eh, pretty good.
Burnt. 3/5 movie about a chef. It didn't really move me.
Went to a horror movie marathon with some co-workers a while back, so Slumber: trash Dead Awake: exactly the same premise, also trash It Comes At Night: more of a psychological thriller than a horror, and since everyone was expecting something scary it ended up being disappointing Don't Knock Twice: bad
I watched 12 Angry Men for the first time and it was fantastic. Wish I'd seen it sooner. Also watched Philadelphia which was kinda sad.
Hot Fuzz. Classic. I still like Shawn of the Dead but that doesnt mean this one is any less funny or good.
War for the Planet of the Apes - 8/10 World's smartest ape must free his people from the evil colonel, overall good film. Was actually pretty sad for a movie about an ape war.
I watched I ♥ Huckabees with my girlfriend the other day. It was her first time seeing it but I'd seen it a few times when I was in high school. When I described the premise to my gf she said it sounded kinda lame like a John Green novel but she ended up liking it because it was actually funny and took itself way less seriously than she expected. I enjoyed it just as much as I did in high school and Jon Brion's score is still really nice. 4.5/5
Amadeus 7-8/10 Wonderful performance from my actors, and a sublime storytelling. Such a shame it has historical issues but it's still one of my favorites.
Hateful 8. It was definitely better than what I heard about it through word of mouth. Everyone’s acting was fantastic and it kept me glued to the screen the whole time. Solid 8/10
The Abyss 8/10 Really good movie that kind of shits the bed at the end. I can think of a few places where the movie should have ended instead, and it did kinda leave me a little disappointed. Not enough to ruin the rest of the movie though.
Thor: Ragnarok : Artistic as fuck, wonderful casting, lots of good subtle humor. Good way to check in on Banner and Thor. 9/10
I tucked in my scrot and watched Frozen, didn't care for it much at the time, too many musical numbers, but the overall takeaway of the movie is good.
I don't remember. So I guess it wasn't very memorable
The Foreigner - 8/10 I mean, its Jackie Chan doing his usual but he's old and srs now. As an American, it felt way different to watch than the usual action/revenge movies we get. John Carpenter's: They Live - 10/10 Trippy shit maaan
I watched Dancer in the Dark last week. Björk has put me through emotional turmoil. I'm not sure if I enjoyed watching it but I would recommend it to other people.
American Made Actually a surprisingly fun crime movie, reminded me a lot of The Big Short and Wolf of Wall Street
Jumanji 8/10
Year One - 5/10 Would've been 3/10 if not for this: https://thumbs.gfycat.com/ShadowyIdealHatchetfish-max-1mb.gif
Non-Stop Rating: 6/10 The movie was okey to watch it night with the family. But my taste is not quite right. These films in airplanes are always very monotonous. But I have to say that the switch of the perpetrators was relatively well implemented. You didn't expect the computer guy to be an accomplice.
Shot Caller I rate : 8/10 not a very memorable movie but its an 8. u got some prison rapings, some prison shankings, neo nazi gangs, and jamie lannister has a handlebar mustache which is cool, too.
Death of Stalin Solid, solid 8/10 Was surprised to see so little recommendations around this thread and the old one for this movie. It's an absolutely brilliant historical satire that you can get into even if you're not a history buff - if you are, the movies even better imo. Excellently written comedy paired with genuinely absurd situations made all the jokes flow really well. You wouldn't believe how many of the jokey-joke scenes in this movie actually happened. Aside from all that it works as a really gripping drama film as well and has a climax that actually stuck with me. Would recommend hard.
