First, when i load into a server it takes about 15 minutes. Most importantly, when i finally do load in the terrain is all black, while the sky is fine. PLEASE HELP
Go in your options, graphics tab, Anti-aliasing, change it from TSSAA; that should fix it.
Known bug they're working on.
Does it matter what i change it to? I tried off, but it didnt work
Changing it to anything but TSSAA should do the trick, you'll have to relog im pretty sure.

Those were the most common fixes for what you're describing.
If you can include an in-game screen-capture, to show exactly what you're facing, I might be able to find new things that could be the cause of it.
for some reason it wont let me insert a picture, but pretend that the sky is that of daytime, but the ground is how it looks during the night time. And when i try to light a torch, the torch doesn't light up the area around me.
