Just today I downloaded the update through Steam, maybe around 3:00PM, and I tried to play the game and it wouldn't start. It didn't offer any crash issue at first, only after force shutting down via Task Manager and verifying the game cache did it work. I started it again and it would say: "Failed to load the launcher DLL: Access is denied". I am the administrator of my computer and administrator features work, it's this specific file in the "bin" folder of SteamLibrary -> steamapps -> common -> GarrysMod -> bin.
Verifying the game says it reacquired one file, but it will say that the launcher.dll is corrupted and failed to download. This is now a continuous cycle making my game unplayable.
I have the same problem but it says that the dll contains a virus instead. Happened right after installing an automatic update. Reinstalling does not fix the problem nor does replacing hl2.exe and launcher.dll from someone who does not have this problem.
Yeah. It's an issue with the update. We gotta wait for a hotfix.
Not a hotfix, no, all you gotta do is make sure your anti virus is not falsely deleting those files as a "virus".
Free anti viruses are known to cause false positive issues after updates, they all get fixed eventually by the people who make your anti virus software.
I checked my bin folder and I ended up losing most of the files leaving me with only 10 files.
My friend gave me a download to his Bin folder then replaced it and it still did not work, any solution?
Bonjour tout le monde , moi j'ai un autre problème mais c'est pratiquement le même que le votre , avant-hier le jeu fonctionner parfaitement , hier en rentrant des cours je lance le jeu et je reçois le message "Failed to load the launcher DLL : Le module spécifié est introuvable" , après multiple recherches sur des forums et à mes connaissances je m'adresse à vous pour que vous puissiez m'aider à résoudre mon problème , j'ai dé-installer Steam 2 fois , redémarrer mon ordinateur , et ré-installer Steam depuis le début..

This is definitely an update issue. My anti-virus has no issues with any folder in Gmod. Nothing works still.
A lot of trouble for me, I force the de-installation of the game and I emptied my cache and the game to start again like new!
