I cant send messages in chat after connecting a controller

Recently i tried connecting my controller to rust to see if it would help with the PvP. The controller didnt help at all. i set all my settings back to defaukt and use the keyboard now. Isomehow cant send messages in chat on any server. i can type them just not send them which is weird. pls help.

A fellow South African Nice. Have you tried restarting your PC?

The thing is I've tried restarting my pc, uninstalling and reinstalling game and reset all controls to default. Nothing seems to be working. This forum is my last hope so i can get back to being salty in chat.
