I discovered the following shortly after logging in 11pm PST.

It looks to be an invisible crate. I could still open it and see the contents. This was the second level of the two story house at the small factory.
I think the new model Max put in is bugging
It's only the medical crates that are invisible, for some reason. Max's weapon crate model is fine, it's just very rare - if you see it you know you're in for a pre-made mod or gun.
