I'm a new player, just looking for a good group to play with, maybe build a civilization, some friendly raiding, that sort of thing. I've spent the last few days on an isolated server just practicing the basic concepts so that i didn't totally tank.. but any tips/advice anyone has would be very appreciated as well :)
Also - lingo... all of the server abbreviations are a completely new language to me. that part would be especially helpful in a break down, so i can try to locate a solid server to join :)
Hey, I'll try and help dude.
First rule: Trust no one!
Next decide on your play style. If you're after a busy server (100-300 slots) or something more chilled out (less than 50 slots) and quiet. Busy servers are ruthless, kill on sight (KOS). I only played a quiet one recently for the first time and it was a massive change of pace, though I still got raided in a couple of days.
Also do you want a "vanilla" unmodded server or not. I like unmodded, but I'm a purist!
Don't play on the official servers apart from rustafied, they're unreliable and full of hackers. Look for active admin presence.
I would suggest pick a server, camp out near a "rad town" and farm BPs (blueprint shards) until the next forced wipe in a couple of weeks, and get on asap, its always a mad race in the first hours to get established after a wipe, especially for busy servers.
Jumping is the universal sign that "im friendly", but that doesn't mean either side will honor the "truce"!.
Trust no one
Don't use predictable door codes, like 6969, 2016, your birth year etc
Don't announce your door code in global chat (yes people do that)
Trust no one
Build small, my small bases last longer than the big ones
Add me on steam, you can trust me! :P

But if you encounter those which found theire V Button you better run for youre balls.
If you are looking to join a group, you can check us out. CiK (Communication is Key), we have about 9 players on in Rust, usually having 4-5 on each night. We are 18+ and most of us have families. Let me know if you are interested and we can talk more.
and the Second rule
Everyone you kill is a noob..
If you get killed by Someone he is to 100% a Cheater and you have to post about him here
