• Suggestion from a freshman

Hi First of all I'd like to say that the concept is great. However, I really believe (and the comments on Steam are joining my opinion from what I saw): the community is toxic. We purchased a four-pack with some friends, thinking we'll have some fun, surviving and building our stuff. Never happened. And I do believe that having fun on a game is the priority of every game developper. So here is my suggestion -We were really often killed in the first 60s after spawning. Why wouldn't you implement a possibility to enable/disable player vs player ? Or create some PVE servers and some PVP ones (maybe it already exists and I missed that fact). -Coming back to the fact of 4 friends playing together. Don't you think that players would enjoy much more their time if they could spawn directly next to each other and play together as soon as possible? It would be great to have a way to start next to each other. I know the game is in alpha and that things might evolve, but this is really my first impressions on the game.
It's true.. the learning curve is steep, and yea.. we'll raid your place and steal your stone, deal with it! or perhaps prevent it.. eventually. You have a way to spawn together, gather some weed'n wood or slay yourself some beast, summon yourself some sleepingbags, hold 'e' and give them to your friends, voilà, your friends and you can spawn together, that is.. untill I take over your cupboards, destroy your sleepingbags and take your 10 wood, don't like it? want me to stop?!.. Make me!
Hey, Sorry all that stuff is happening to you. My friends and I went through the same thing. Luckily there are PVE servers out there that you can search for. The good PVE servers reflect damage that is dealt to you or any kind of structure. The downside is you can't really demolish anything (nice admin can) and there are still looters that will try to get into your base and steal your stuff. I, too, really like the concept of Rust and completely agree that (most of) the community is toxic. There are more ways to play this game than just blindly looting and killing each other.
My five cents. The game is two parts: farming and building (which I love) and fking Counter-Strike with bunnyhopping, unrestrained sprinting and perfect aim all the time (which I hate).
once you figure out the early grind it's not so bad. The most real drama happens when you know exactly what you're doing, you're almost done, and then fate puts you up against some guy with a baklava and a bow. if you have four people simultaneously trying to setup a base in different areas of the map, one of you will be able to get enough cloth and wood to put sleeping bags near each other, even if its one at a time downhill from there

or any other server at all? I've had the opposite player reaction in my experience, OP. Proximity chat is grea; mostly everyone has been friendly. I've made more allies than enemies. Or maybe prox-chat is why you get killed? I dunno, but anyone who's mic-less deserves to be slaughtered IMO. Why don't you all run around with your dicks catching a nice breeze - first to find 120 cloth builds 4 sleeping bags (you freshman bois can probably fit into one probably). ALSO I think your suggestions are harmful to the game
It's true.. the learning curve is steep
Agreed. I just started playing this game, I've got about 15 hours of gameplay in personally. Before I purchased this game honestly i probably watched like a couple hours of gameplay videos to make sure it was the game for me. I completely agree there is a large learning curve, it's frustrating and difficult but thats the beauty of it. Keep in mind servers refresh everyone starts from scratch but you will retain your blueprints you've discovered. The game is difficult, but you have to invest the time to get on an even keel with other players. Two friends and I just started playing in a new server we've been raided and robbed of everything multiple times but each time we've learned something new and as time goes on we've gotten stronger.
Rust is a hardcore game my friend, and people are allowed to be assholes and dicks without feeling morally responsible since it's all virtual, except you feel the emotion which makes rust awesome.
So, a couple changes recently made to the game (from what I understand it) Walls degrade faster. Stone nodes spawn less frequently. They got the SHIT buffed out of them a short while before that, though, so I think all in all if you keep up your maintenance (which sucks) you should be less prone to explosives raids. Anything less than explosives raids and someone needs to teach you watup.
I start playing alone, and is easy, i died some times offcurse, but i found one piece of land with less players and build a small base, after this 2 hours of gameplay... I got much fun, if i die, i don't get mad, is the game. A lot of times i speak if the people and some times they listen and start chatting i do a lot of allies and still playing alone but i really love the asshole you can be in this game. You need know how to play, after this is really fun. use stone base or better, never make a wall wrong side (i get raided for that once) be off the radar of big clans and get defense power over the naked ones, doing this you live more in this game bag for friends and pve server are not found and really dumb, you notice this after playing and getting some guns
