This evening, I was playing on the Sydney 2 server.
As usual, I was farming materials for the Slave Apartments I was building. It was about 80% complete, just needed furnishings in all the rooms.
At one point on the evening of 12/06/2016, I started getting attacked. Questionable players were camping outside my building, fighting other players. I was caught in the crossfire and respawned at my building.
Soon after respawning, my foundations started getting instantly destroyed. An admin by the name of Alistair(?) completely wiped my building except for the foundation stairs, at what was the front entrance. After sending some distressed messages to the side chat, the admin claimed that cheating players had "access" to the building, so he had removed it. The closest thing to access they had was walking on the front veranda and using the building as cover. And because of that, I was punished.
That building had taken a week to build, and was wiped in a few seconds. The admin did NO investigation into it WHATSOEVER, and just made a snap-decision. This conduct is borderline abusive and frankly, unacceptable. Again, I cannot stress the amount of time and effort I had poured into constructing that building. To have it wiped leaves me reeling, not just at the loss of the building but at the reason for it being completely demolished.
Alistair, if you read this, please do at least SOME investigating into the matter next time. In a situation like that, at least question who owns the base and check if they are associated with the cheaters. Unless there's a real-life time constraint, there is no reason to make snap-decisions like that. This isn't a competitive game where removing cheaters is a thing of urgency. You shouldn't need to be reminded that this is an Alpha Sandbox game, where the bugs, glitches and cheating methods are being gradually ironed out. I hope this somewhat influences any future decision you make in similar circumstances.
Cheers,
(Not so) Lucky.
Edit: Just for some scale, the building was around a 4 x 7 and about 6-7 stories high with a Large Furnace room attached to the side. You can probably imagine how much stone I invested.
Whichever admin is looking after Sydney 2 has no idea what they are doing. Banning innocent players and wiping random bases. Sickening.

As in funny and incorrect, or a good point?

As in funny because it's not how Rust is intentionally themed. I word this carefully, because there are enough servers and playstyles out there to allow enough diversity that this could be true (PvE servers); but as a whole, the very theme of surviving against all odds includes other players. That in itself is a competition. Playing on an official server guarantees that competition, and the admins keep it fair by ensuring players don't exploit glitches (like rock bases) or benefit from hacks (whether directly using them or teaming with someone who does). It sucks to have your base destroyed because of those cheaters, but it's better than being associated with them and getting server banned.
And you where building the whole thing alone or did you have team members?
Seriously, with all the bullshit story's coming out from JoshClap and this new guy it's hilarious. You were clearly violating rules by allowing cheating players to join your base and that's your fault no one else's, the admins ban process is made on a decision and taken over time the fact you've been caught with hackers going in and out of your base is due to them taking time and documenting the incident.

This is actually laughable. Never did they have access to any part but the outside of my base.
If I've been running with cheaters, it wasn't in my knowledge that they were cheating. These people were random players, fighting around my building. They may have stepped on some foundations that weren't gated, but they never had actual access to the base.
Because I kept forgetting my gate codes and having to reset them, only two people had access to it at that time. Another group member and myself, both using it as a safehouse. Neither of us cheat, nor accommodate cheaters.
I had front-row seats to what happened, and on the admin's part, it was disgraceful. Not sure why you're talking about the ban process, I wasn't banned because again, I don't cheat. But the decision to wipe my base on the grounds that cheaters had "access" to it was a rushed one. It's almost like he just thought they might have access to it so he wiped it anyway. Having a week's worth of work wiped on a hunch is pretty unruly.

First of all, I didn't mean to say Rust wasn't a competitive game. I simply said it wasn't a competitive game where banning cheaters is urgent. The game's still in Alpha, but this admin acted as if it were as urgent as banning a cheater from CS:GO. Saw a bunch of cheaters around my building, only banned half of them and then demolished my building on false grounds. Didn't take any time to step back and evaluate the situation. I wasn't even surprised to see the other cheaters picking over the loot afterwards with the admin nowhere in sight.

I'm pretty sure everyone that has had a cheater noclip into thier base or got aimbotted will disagree with you there. My suggestion is start over on a community server where admins might not be too busy to hear you out and cheating is less prevalent.

It's a bitch to find a decent community server with a decent player number and a monthly wipe though.
Noclip is patched.

I shouldn't need to move servers because an Official Server admin has bad conduct.
I shouldn't need to move servers because an Official Server admin has bad conduct.
To you, it's an Admins bad conduct. To him, it's another player crying because he's punished for associating with cheaters. There's always two sides to the story, but the lesson is: it's your responsibility to find the server that's right for you. The server doesn't change for you.
To you, it's an Admins bad conduct. To him, it's another player crying because he's punished for associating with cheaters.
You have a very loose definition of association. They were literally just using the base as cover. I'm "crying" (because apparently complaining = crying) as that was a week's worth of farming and building. To have it demolished because an admin couldn't be bothered to look any further into the situation is pretty disgusting. While he's been given power over the server, he's also been given responsibility; something that he clearly disregarded at that time.
that's your side of the story. and other than simply trusting you at your word, there is no proof it's true to the actual situation. i can almost guarantee that the dev who banned you would have much more to add to the story, and that it wasn't just a "snap decision".
regardless of the details of the situation, kurogo has a point; if the server and you are not compatible, it's more likely you will find a better server elsewhere than change the way a server is being run. doubly the case when it's an official server.

I don't know if you've read any of what I've said above, but again. I have not been banned. The admin simply wiped my base.

I dont know a single one. The current meta is 5 million players 1 week nukewipe.

apologies, i lost track between this and other threads like it;)
my point is the same though. whether the result was banning or knocking down your base, it's only one side of the story, and i'm sure that the admin made a decision based on more than "hey he's near them, they must be together". they tend to spec for a while before they act.
actually, you probably got off pretty light. most people accused of working with cheaters get a server ban, not just a base demo.
Can the admin answer here with his side of the story? Otherwise its hard to verify.
The point is to know how much of the stone was gained through kills made by cheaters. Also are those cheaters in the friends list of the poster above? Did he play with them and gain materials?

This. None of us know if the cheaters built the base or not. If they did then removing it is justified.

It wasn't the cheater's building. I'd built it over a week, all of the wood and stone involved was farmed. That's why I'm frustrated.
Don't act surprised. Everyone knows TSGH has hackers. There have even been hackers that confirm this to other players as well. It sounds like you're trying to convince yourselves that you don't associate with hackers rather than anyone else.
[editline]17th June 2016[/editline]
Hey there Buck. Please investigate the TSGH clan. I know one of the devs have already banned chase that feeling but there is still plenty more hackers they're associating with currently.
