Keep it up! Is it wrong I got a slight erection over that 6 second video clip of trees? :/
i don't know, did you? is that a real question?
I'm actually feeling hype for a game that's not Super Smash Brothers; I thought games had disappointed me so many times I didn't think that was possible. xD It's looking great, I'm glad there's a system that will now give Rust/the devs the potential the potential they deserve.
Yeah big thanks to garry for the Devblog. It is always something that I am really looking forward during the week. You guys are making sooo much progress it is just awesome.
this is going to be unpopular, but does anyone else think the game should of been like this before it was pre-released.

So... it's not a very useful question. The previous iteration of Rust was necessary to get us to the point where we are now. By having the game as it was played by many people they could see the limits of what they had and that has led us here.

the previous iteration of rust wasn't necessary because its a different game as this "update" will serve as a 2nd release. it's almost like i paid 20$ for a kickstarter.
the biome's were awesome, but huge respect to the guy who did the 3 minutes of awesome animations. they were top quality.

I am too lazy to find a source, but my understanding was that Rust was one of a few prototypes that they had going. Plus it was a prototype for one kind of game that ended up being more like another kind of game and frankly it is no surprise that a rewrite is an effective way forward.
The prototype served its purpose, which was kind of discovering a game. Through a process of iterative development and user feedback, something new has been defined. So the developers take these parameters and start working out the ideal engine to run all this stuff and support further development.
A little bit of pain now saves a whole mess of pain later. This is how development works. Rushing something makes it take longer.
We are observing the process of creation here. Not the universe, just a small imaginary one - but still an amazing thing. Be patient, and be happy that you have devs who are willing to make hard decisions rather than taking the tempting path of trying to fix the existing framework as you go along. That would lead to compromise and a poorer end product.
Actually the Forest looks awesome and it's being developed by just four people.
Goes to show what can be achieved when you set your mind to it.
I only can dream Rust by a half good as The Forest....
only minus for The Forest - dont have multiplayer as Rust...

It certainly has awesome aspects and fun potential. When you hold out your hand and a bird lands on it, it's a great experience. It'll be a while though before I'd really recommend it to people who like to play a "complete" game.

Yeah, saw some videos, huge potential, but they still have a very long way to go.
