Hello all,
I have been playing around with the bow for a while now and it seems to be a great addition to the game. It's great for killing zeds and animals but when it comes to players it's near useless due to it's unpredictable accuracy...
You can some times guess where the arrow may go but it's never the same... It has a slow reload time which i think is fine, however the hunting bow its self i believe needs some accuracy adjustments...
Perhaps the player can have add on attachments on the bow etc?
Have your say :D
maybe use leather to craft a new string, increase the damage? maybe a craftable arrow sight from metal fragments
'unpredictable accuracy' ? Sounds like the user.. And your name is 'sniper'? PFFTT
No - There doesn't need to be a change to the bow. It's fine as is. It's the user who is having issues. I can hit people from a mile away with the bow.

Great you made your point... Next time show a bit of maturity and leave the insults to yourself ;)
The arrow shoots straight. The user shoots crooked. :)
The pencil misspelled the word!
Just takes a bit of guessing on where it hits but after that you should be able to hit a chicken from across the map :D
We don't need a CoD crosshair in the game.
I've gotten some beautiful snipes with the bow. I love it the way it is
I can hit anything I aim at with the bow...you just have to learn where it hits, and sometimes adjust for distance.
Bows don't kill people...
People kill people.
:quagmire:
I do like the sound of attachments on a bow, but I think they need to be specific to the bow, and only work for the bow.
The bow is extremely accurate right now. I was able to shoot and kill a guy in two hits through a window across the rad zone (I was on the second tier building, he was on the ground floor inside the med center). First hit got him in the back, second the head as he ran into the small dead end hallway.
Aiming is the trick without the crosshair. I don't understand why the OP wants more accuracy?
I think Since Rust has M4s etc there should be a Modern style compound type bow that you can upgrade and get attachments for just my two cents/pence

I agree

who would use it ? cause i see it as the bow being a starter weapon, and once u got a gun, why would u change to a bow again? only if it was REALY good and would 1 shot ppl, and then it would just be too over powered, once u have a M4 atleast on PvP, i cant see anyone other then for fun use a bow, and on the PvE well again mainly just for fun.
Maybe the bow can have a camera angle centered behind the hand holding the bow. I think that is where I would tilt my eye level to if I was shooting.

Rust is slowly migrating to more home-made weapons. The hunting bow was the first step in that direction. Soon all military-grade weapons will either be removed or very hard to find and probably uncraftable. Your idea doesn't fit with these changes.
And frankly, to everyone complaining about the bow's accuracy: It's in fact perfectly accurate. I.e.: Given the same orientation and positioning, the arrow will always hit the same spot.
What some of you guys term as "lacking accuracy" is just the increased difficulty of finding the right point on the screen to aim the bow at. And if you spend more than a few minutes with the bow you should be able to find it easily and memorize it for the future.
And you should start training with your bow right now. Because very soon your twitch-shooting M4 skills will become next to useless.
the bow fires directly to the dead center of your screen every time. the only exception is when firing long range then you need to lead your target and arc the shot. I have been using it and from the top of my tower and i can snipe people anywhere in the valley pretty easy just takes practice.
I think they should add a compound bow, more accurate, more damage, more expensive.
Bow are fine as it is. Ofc It would be fun i you could FIND compound bow that would have some archery attachments like peep sights, but give those bows only increased range, and string pull time lowered a bit.
Bow damage is very good. (it should have some armor piercing as I is proven that arrow have better piercing capability then bullets)
The only issue i have with the bow is that the model when shooting seems off center. I kind of have to compensate in an unnatural way, but maybe that's just me.
One slight model alteration to have the tip of the arrow pointing at the dead center of the screen would prevent the need for sight attachments and whatnot.
Maybe a second type of now would be nice. Recurve metal bow, compound ones could work too. Slightly better arrow travel time, and arrow velocity, but slower draw time and faster shaking at full draw.

The bow does not have a tooltip yet, which is why some people think its low dmg probably.
It actually does more dmg than the M4.
2 Shots = dead nudie. M4 takes 3 (with the bleed). It also has pretty much unlimited range while the M4 has 130 (I think) which is the second farthest range, behind the bow.
Sorry. The bow is, if anything, overpowered and should have a slightly worse aim (to remove bow snipers laying siege to houses). 5.56mm bullets do more dmg than homemade bows in reality Im pretty sure.
How about explosive tip crossbows? Insta kill inside 5-feet, the victims blow to small bloodbags and meat stacks, and there will be guts all over the place, Only costs a torch and 1 wood.. It attracts aliens that kill all the bandits and put their heads on sticks for new spawns to grill. /sarcasm

I think that the bows are fine. Irl, this is how a bow would look if one was shooting it but I do agree with the attachment thing. A bow sight would be nice :)
honestly, the bow has been a consistent killer for me for many a target and consistent for shooting animals and zombies; when I get excited or flustered, it's all over the place. But calmly walking backwards and shooting I can take down bears and wolves without issue as they chase me. So, I dunno; the bow seems okay by me

No it's not, unless you're cross-dominant (ie. right-handed, left-eye dominance) and shooting with both eyes open. When I shoot, I'm looking straight down the arrow shaft.
Having said that, I prefer it this way, as it makes shooting more skill-based.
The hunting bow only becomes inaccurate if you hold your shot back for too long.

(you'll notice because you start shaking wildly)
Every single weapon in game is dead on accurate when held steady. I dunno what you are talking about.
