I have a feeling it has something to do with the number of wooden shelters people have been putting all over the place that go unused. Shelters are known to cause server lag when they are there in great enough numbers. They're working on a solution, but there is no ETA and it sounds like it's a long ways off.

US Central 1 has lagged/rubberbanded for the past 3 days without fail.

Well, if it's caused by shelters, lets start a cleanup crew! Get about 10 guys to go around the map and break all of them you see. I know there's at least 3 "Shanty towns" (6+ shelters in a group) right near one of the rad zones in my server.
