• How the heck can someone build without building privileges ??

I opened a code locked door of one of our houses yesterday morning only to find out someone had barricaded it from the inside using a stone block. At the back he had built a wooden elevator to get in from the top although he did not have the privileges. I got in the same way and saw that in the center of the house the cupboard, surrounded by rock walls with an armoured door and code lock was untouched. As I was the only one authorized to build there I had a teammate try to build, however he wasn't able to. So how the heck is this possible? Is this a hack, or perhaps a trick? As to my knowledge this should not be possible.
Probably the raider authorised himself on the cupboard while you where still building the base and you never cleared the authorised list.
Raided before? He waited for you to collect stuff and raid you later? I did that myself a couple of times already.
It's hard to say without seeing the base or knowing the background. There are many ways this can be done and they're all well within the allowed game mechanics.
Raided before? I've gotten into bases in their early stages of construction. There was nothing of value worthwhile taking, so all I did was authorize myself, repaired any damage I may have done getting in, and move on. I'll revisit the base at a later date when I know it's packed full of goodies for the taking.
I routinely clear the authorized list every couple of days.
I routinely clear the authorized list every couple of days.
Once my base is complete, I will actually remove all tool cupboards, place a new one in a hard to reach, hidden corner on an upper floor, get our core members who are online to authorize themselves, hidden away in a sealed, armoured 1x1 . Then I place secondary cupboards as necessary to extend the exclusion zone. More often than not, most of these are also permanently sealed in as well.
i used to use bad connection exploit in building restricted area but then i took an arrow to the knee

Easy, they took down the wall, authorized themselves, then re-built it.
Easy, they took down the wall, authorized themselves, then re-built it.
^^^^ This. While you were offline, someone likely broke in, saw you had nothing of value to steal, authorized himself, then repaired his damage. You were none the wiser to it.
I'm the Santa Raider, i break in give you stuff then leave with out a trace of my entry, maybe some cookie crumbles and missing milk but thats not in the game..yet
Easy, they took down the wall, authorized themselves, then re-built it.
Yeah, well, guess that could be a possibility... but having to break two walls of 500 hp just for authorization with the risk of a (daily) reset of the cupboard... could be... It depends when they authorized. There are times when i see a base being build and the owner has not yet secured its doors or walled in there cabinets. I take a quick look if they have anything good and authorize myself on there cabinet ( and make duplicates of any keys ). And the owner does not have a clue. Later when there base is finished or more secure, one can get in like a thief. They may cry hacker or whatever but its there own darn fault for not securing there cupboard or there chest with backup keys. I mean ... yesterday there was a already half finished base where they put locks on the doors ... but they never made any keys. So all the doors are just open. Is that person going to cry hacker when they just leave there doors open? And no ... those guys are not newbies because they knew how to secure there cupboard and other stuff in there base indicating that they where not new to Rust. They just forgot... Or when people go out to search for resources and they leave there doors open to there secure base. Not the first time that i have seen that. And there is no risk for a cupboard reset. Very few people ever reset there cupboard. Only when the have had a break in, people reset ( some do not even after a break in ).
Am i the only one that blocks off my cupboard as soon as i can? granted i was raided with bullets this weekend, serves me right for thinking someone wouldn't shoot through 4 wooden walls to take out my cupboard (was not raided for a week in a raider heavy area, guess raiders don't think it's worth it to raided 2x2 bases on pillars.
the bigger the base the more you'll get raided .. I built a 7x7x5 base with 2 outer rings and a 3x3x5 base in the middle .. after being raided twice, it seems to me that my base shouted: "Please raid me, I have lots of materials inside me".... so if you're not with 10 guys playing 24/7 you maybe prefer to go small and hidden instead of big and with massive defences. @topic: I authorize myself on every cupboard that I can ... even on abandoned buildings .. you never know if a freshspawn takes the base for himself and forgets to wipe the cb ^^
At least I now learned that there's quite some naughty folks out there :) Thanks for those replies guys.
