Oops! The game crashed. The crash report named ''<date_time>'' next to game executable...etc.
17 replies, posted
Since yesterday I don't get to play Rust because it crashes after 3-5 seconds after loading with a pop up that says:
''Oops! The game crashed. The crash report named ''<date_time>'' next to game executable. It would be great if you'd send it to developer of the game!''
I've already searched for solutions and tried them out but they didn't work.
What I tried:
-Right click Rust in the Steam Library -> Select ''Properties'' -> Go to the ''local content'' tab ->
Select ''Verify integrity of game cache'' -> Wait for it to complete -> Restart Steam ->
Launch game
-Running the game as administrator
-Running the game in windowed mode
-Restarting my pc (obviously)
-Delete the entire Rust folder from the Steam tab -> Uninstall Rust -> Install Rust again -> Restart Steam -> Launch game
-Running a command prompt as administrator -> Type sfc /scannow -> No problems were detected
-Uninstalling video drivers -> Reinstalling latest ones
-Reinstalling Direct X
Is anyone else having this problem? Has anyone found a solution for it or know any other solutions that could work? Let me know.
Bump
Bump again, I paid for this game and I want to play it.

2 bumps a ban , rip
Please paste the contents of the error log and output log from the crash folder (located in the Rust folder in Steam) to pastebin and link them here.
The actual contents of the logs may give us a clue on what's going wrong. All that message means is "oops, the game crashed" and doesn't detail why.
And post your comp specs
im having a similar issue but i do not know how to use pastebin.
My specs:
12GB DDR3-1600 RAM
SSD Crucial MX100 256GB
Intel® Core i7 4790K 4.0 Ghz
Nvidia GTX 970 4GB
ASUS Maximus VII Ranger
*Tuned and overclocked
Error log will follow shorty.
Your specs look fine, but the first thing I'd do is to drop your overclocking and tuning and go back to stock for testing purposes. (You can certainly re-enable your OC profiles afterwards.)
And, yes, logs please.
Also please include your Nvidia driver version (xxx.xx).

Hmm. This seems to be the error of the week.
I want you to try launching Rust directly through RustClient.exe in the Rust folder under Steam. You won't be able to play on secured servers, but this is for testing so it's not a problem.
Tried launching it from the .exe file, but still the error pops up.
Don't know if you still needed it, but my Nvidia driver version is: 368.39
Have set my pc back from overlocked and tuned to stock for now and tried once more (also from .exe file) but no changes
[editline]15th June 2016[/editline]
I also seemed to have found out about a sort of ''fix'', but I'm still not satisfied. simply by not clicking on ''OK'' or the X to close it after the error pops up, but just clicking back into the game, leaving the pop up open. This will only let you join the servers that come up just before the error pops up (these servers all have a population of 0 to 5 players max) or the servers that your friends are currently playing in.

dude seriously , the guy who's trying to "help" :quotes: you out has no f**king idea what he is doing , soo hear me up ... go to Nvidia Control panel turn off all the things from Anti aliasing , put on High performance turn off texture filtering , vertical sync , triple buffering , FXAA and some other stuff if you see the crash again go to Adjust image and settings on Nvidia control panel go to performance ... I didn't have a crash yet after doing that , the game looks sh*t but what can you do .. There was a big update on Rust when this started to happen and f**ked peoples game and the fun they had so

Well I still appreciate for him TRYING to help me. I'm not looking forward to playing the game in low graphics quality since I have a pc with some real good specs, so I guess I'll do with the solution I found out about myself for now, but I still hope the devs will fix this asap
I had a similar issue and it was because my headset was set as the default communication device (Jabber/Lync headset). May be worth checking. :)
i'm having similar crash issues, and extreme 'lag' or unresponsiveness, but i've been unable to find a solution. any assistance at all would be greatly appreciated.

nvwgf2umx.dll is part of your Nvidia drivers. Your drivers are from early March, and the current stable driver version is 368.39. I'd start by updating to that.
This doesn't guarantee a fix, but it's a start.
