This happened to me for the 3rd time now. I swear I tried every solution there was posted on the whole entire internet, and nothing seems to be working. Tried: Restarting router 10x times. Restarting steam. Restarted my PC. Verified Integrity of Game Cache x10 times Used google DNS 8.8.8.8 / 8.8.4.4 Used ISPs DNS Portfowarded port 27015 Reinstalled EAC Reinstalled Rust x5 times Uninstalled my Antivirus Disabled Firewall Disabled Windows Defender Run as Administrator /flushed Dns And lots of different solutions that did not work. I am starting to think its a fault on EAC's servers/side. Could anyone who is having/had the same issue, please post their possible solutions for me to try? Thank you, appreciate it. UPDATE: I tried tethering to rust through my phone and it seemed to work. So now it makes me think that it may have something to do with "Port forwarding" ?
I don't think you have to port forward anything to get EAC to connect. You may want to disable any software firewall (windows and antivirus) and set your computer in your router's DMZ. This will make your computer completely open to the internet (risky?). You may want to use Wireshark to analyze your problem deeper.
I blocked my windows defender with group policy and uninstalled my antivirus. Are you able to tell me more about DMZ? I dont mind having my computer open to the internet.
It will typically be a feature offered by routers on their web setup. You may find the IP of your router under "default gateway" after typing the ipconfig command in the command line (cmd.exe) (You can open it with the windows key + R and type cmd). Domestic use routers typically have 192.168.1.1 or similar IPs. Once you found the IP you may type it in your favorite web browser, you may require a user and password to get in and often they are admin/admin or admin/[nothing], etc. DMZ functions are often close by port forwarding as putting a computer in DMZ basically forwards every port to it. Take note that in order to put your computer in a DMZ permanently you might require you to assign a static local IP for it. To do that you may use the MAC address of your network card with the "ipconfig /all" command in the DHCP setup of your router. I like to use 192.168.X.100-199 for dynamic IPs and 200-255 for static ones on my network but you may chose any unused address in between 1-255.
Well. I dont have an external network card, mine is built in. So do i need to do anything with the Local DMZ IP? Do i just assign a random 192.168.x.x and the DMZ is ready to go?
I'd seriously recommend having your PC in the DMZ for as short a time as possible if you do this - early home internet was already a terrible place for a standard computer to be directly exposed, and it's hardly safer now.
Well. By excluding anticheat in Defender and AV, it should provide some sort of protection. But i can see what you are saying. It would be a pain to enable/disable DMZ everytime you are gaming though, but by the looks of things that could be my only solution.
EAC uses standard HTTP connection (port 80) to http://download.eac-cdn.com/ If you can open the address http://download.eac-cdn.com/testconnection/ it means that the connection is working. If you can open the URL in web browser but the game won't still work it means that something is blockin the in-game EAC module from connecting to that address.
It says "OK: connection successful".. How should I proceed? :( [editline]9th January 2016[/editline] Okay, ladies and gentlemen. I finally got in Rust after trying for a couple of days. Website that Nago provided returned "OK: connection successful" and he mentioned that something blocking in-game EAC module from connecting... I simply uninstalled Rust, Exit Steam, Right-clicked on Steam "Run as Administrator" and Installed Rust that way... I am so happy right now, that tears of joy are rolling down my cheeks.. Thank you very much, beautiful people of the universe for your help. Now this thread can be closed. (;
Wew, so I've ended up playing for just over an hour, and as soon as my FPS dropped to like 10, I've decided to restart Rust. Guess what... I am getting "Can not connect to the EAC Network" again.. ehhhhh.. Why cant I just play the game normally like other people do. Why do I have to suffer with all these problems.. :(

(steam/common/rust) In this folder there are two .exes that run the game. The plain Rust.exe started perfectly with no EAC errors. After running Rust with this .exe I seem to be able to start up rust from steam again with no problems. Hope this helps.
If you run Rust.exe, surely you wouldnt be able to connect to secure VAC servers..?
If you run Rust.exe, surely you wouldnt be able to connect to secure VAC servers..?
pretty sure you mean EAC secured servers in this case:)
If you run Rust.exe, surely you wouldnt be able to connect to secure VAC servers..?
I ran it once with Rust.exe, from there on I never needed to run it from that folder. I can't say whether or not it connected to VAC servers when I did as I never checked that thoroughly.
I couldn't open the EAC links
