I bought this game about three days ago and I'm thoroughly enjoying the mechanics and overall game play, however, There are way too many people raiding for minor resources. I've established a base three or four times now on different servers and every time, I've been raided, killed and had my bed destroyed. This is really discouraging and needs to be sorted out really. Most likely solved by adding more servers and lowering the overall population on each server. I feel that a storage locking mechanism could be added too somehow. And finally, I think the game could use more than just one PvE server to lessen the population and decrease server strain on the only current one.
Do you play as a group? And what kind of buildings do you make?
I raid ALOT, that's like all I do, but I've only ever been raided myself once.
I either build a tower thats a little out of the way and takes a lot of c4 to get into (while also spreading out boxes, don't pile them into one room, it just makes you a target) or I build a small 1x1 or 2x2 and try to look like I have nothing worth taking.
What I look for when raiding a house, 2+ large boxes, minimum amount of C4 needed. If you only have one wall/door between the outside and your 2-3 large boxes then you're going to get raided.
Just play smarter.
Get more beds and make a better base. Find some people to group with and your experience might be a little bit better.
And as above said.. how much stuff do you really need?
Put your initial house in an out of the way or concealed location so that potential raiders won't spot it. Then build it up when you get the chance. That way, when you're first starting out, it's hard to find and thus less likely to get raided, and by the time it's been built up really big, it looks more intimidating and many people won't bother raiding it. This strategy worked well for me, but I'm on a no sleeper server so things might be a bit different if you're not on one.
First thing I do when starting a new server and solo is getting a sleeping bag. Then its off to go and find metal doors :)

Agreed with make a better base - Myself and friends got raided alot however our building style has changed making it more difficult to get raided.
