• Navigation and Navigation Enhancment for New Players

I always see these posts all over different forums on the internet, so I thought I'd help on the whole map situation. "So it's probably a dumb idea, but some way to navigate would be nice. Whether it be Northstar, or the Moon, or a military GPS Device found only on airdrops, something. " But here's what I've done to help the new guys out. Over the course of like... 2 months of owning this game, I've discovered multiple ways to navigate around, and help your friends locate you. I will bullet each different way, and try it out! It really helps. First off, you need to be what I call the Installler. The Installer is the one who will spend about 100-1500 wood going five minutes each way down a ROAD and putting visible marks. Then going to near towns and following my next ste[. As the Installer, you need to think ahead of time. Decay, and someone being smart enough to follow your posts. Here is what I do. Start from your base which I really hope is well hidden. Sprint one direction (towards a town, near the road) and after a minute, place a foundation. Then one pillar on the nearest corner/point pointing towards your home. Now, begin a 2 minute sprint. After two minutes, place a foundation, with 2 pillars on top of eachother on the corner/spot pointing towards your last foundation. Now, get the pattern? Not only does the pillar indicate location, it also indicates time of travel to next 'checkpoint'. Do this as many times as needed. Now, tell your friend (during his time of not trying to find you, he should have been getting wood and resources) to go on the road, look bothways, and run one way. Go AROUND towns, and back on the road. Now you should've placed a foundation w/pillar near the road, in visible sight, and he is then on track. Always keep going one direction, the road is a loop. So you'll inevitable meet up soon. Another thing for the Installer's job. If you havent noticed, user-made objects create an invisible wall for enemies. Zombies, wolfs, bears, ect. So having non-pillar foundations around a town highly populated can be the difference between life, death, and having that nice new M4 blueprint you always wanted to go make and grief with. Ok, so you've mastered the Installer job, and have done this all over the road-area, and now I have a huge 15 man army... but I still get lost in the woods!?!? So, same story, different cover for woods, but this time, there is a little kick. If you're like me, you'll do most recourse gathering at night. For the woods, place a foundation, and one pillar at the entrance, for a reference point. You will as of now need about 10 campfires, and a hundred wood. Put 10 wood in each fire and light her up. Every thirty seconds, in one way, place a foundation, one pillar pointing towards previous foundation, and a lit campfire, right behind that pillar. Do this as mmany times needed into the deep wild. "But I just watched a youtube video, and it talked about decay! What happens then??" Either make everything metal (I dont think foundations rot) or give the job Repairman to one of your mates who will go repair your stuff. (If your playing Rust++) (And if youre new and reading this, I am using the giving a job reference as a verbal job. There is no legitimate job to give someone in game.) I have a lot of cool tricks Ive had up my sleeves, and if I get bored today during halftime, I'll update this and make it a tipsntrix thread. Hope this helps with new players. Good reliable map I use when I game: https://rustmap.net/ If you plan on Zombie harvesting, you need to first be close to your base, and have a bow, pickaxe, and some sort of firearm and pleny of ammo. I have discovered shooting them in the head is like one hit. When hitting them with a pickaxe, be somewhat near the zombie, swing, and sprint towards them in mid-swing. If you did it correctly, you hit the zombie, killed it, andd sucsessfully ran right through him. When running from a zombie, dont run away, run to and through. They CANNOT HURT YOU while you run through them. So, while I sit here, pooping, I have read on about people having raiding issues. Well, here is how I insure you to be not raided as often, Mr. Newton. First off, you'll need the following: Campfire (5x wood) WoodenShack (a second one is necessary) (50x wood, 100x wood for 2) Door (30x wood, 60x for 2) Bedroll (15x cloth) Crate (x3 if you make a second shack) (30x wood, 120x for 4) Bow (35x wood, 5x cloth) 30x Arrows (1x stone, 4x wood or 25x stone, 28x wood for 30x arrows) Stone Hatchet (5x stones, 10x wood) Cloth Armour set. (26x cloth) Now you're probably wondering how these items will prevent me being raided. Im also going to include making your first set of tools and weapons and armor can be done in about 15 minutes of playing. Wiith a stone, you're going to first before anything craft a Bow and some arrows. Go hit rocks. Caveman style. Now, I was confused when finding recourses, the farther out you are from the roads, the harder supplies become. So early on, you're kind forced into getting your shizz here. Once you've obtained a bow, and arrows, make a camp fire. Now, go kill some piggies, and stag. ---REMEMBER--- WOLVES AND BEARS ARE ALMOST TO AN EXTREME OVER POWERED AND YOU WONT KILL THEM AT A GOOD RATE THATD PROFIT YOU WITH A BOW. STICK TO AVOIDING AREAS WITH BEARS AND WOLVES. STICK TO PIGS AND DEER. Now you got like 40+ chicken meat from a swine, hooray, split it into 3 stacks (Done by hitting TAB and right clicking raw chicken, and selecting the split option.) Place your campfire down somewhere nearr and hidden, because there are people starving and will kill you for a honey and oat bar. Go back to mining. COme back in 2-5 minutes and feast your balls off to a full food meter. Your health now regens, you run faster, cause higher damage, and harvest more supplies sometimes. Now, Continue killing these animals. create yourself an armor set, and continue to the next part of survival. 0-0-0-0-REMEMBER0-0-0-0-0 Huge wood piles can be found and harvested at a large 7x wood per hit, to abouut 90x wood. So look for these rather than trees. You should have a cloth armor set, and 70ish wood. create a shack, door, crate, and bedroll. In your shack, place these items accordingly to your given space, set a campfire in there, thrrow some chicken and wood in, and bam, light. Remember, its night time now, you stick out like a sore thumb if you're not hidden well. Place your bedroll down, and now choose the option SPAWN AT CAMP TO respawn at your newly set spawn point. Go aahead and get the stuff to create a stone hatchet, and go to getting more wood and stones, and stuff. I WILL UPDATE MORE LATER ON IM SUPER TIRED I AM GOING TO MAKE A POT OF COFFEE UPDATE--- Im currently making a dedicated series of informational help for Rust. I really DGAF if you think there are enough tutorials, but I love helping people, and getting them on their feet, so I'll make an entire series just for this topic!!! ^.^ ALSO SPAWN AT CAMP WHEN YOU DIE YOU SPAWN NEAR TOWN/ROADS. Peace.
