Link to thread #1, before the latest patch. Same as before, bold for tl;dr, appreciate all dev comments. I've gone through rather heavy late game, was addicted. Now that I've been brought down to zero again, here's some of my feedback on how to make the game more balanced and enjoyable. Last thread's feedback still stands and I am happy to see how the devs have applied similar changes to a few of those suggested in my thread, though I guess they came up with them themselves.
### WEAPONS ### - C4 now drops only in blueprints, and drops 25% more rarely. - Explosives need 5 more Low Grade Fuel to craft. - M4 now drops only in blueprints. - Bolt Action Rifle cost production decreased. - C4 cannot be placed while airborne - Revolver reload time increased Reasoning: Changing C4 and M4 drops to blueprint-only nerfs 'mobbing', but discard this suggestion completely if and once research kits are going to destroy the researched item. Although mobs (4 or more players together) will maintain lategame dominance with gunpower and resource gathering speed, this will hamper their early-mid game progression thanks to stopping everyone from researching an M4/C4 once a single one is obtained. This also decreases the amount of this gun present on the map, as it is still just slightly too big. C4 still drops a bit too often, but the game is much better now. Slightly increased the cost of Explosives to make a resource more important for lategame and hamper mass production slightly. Bolt Action is too expensive, period. It is a rare gun and all, but the M4 outdoes it in 80% of all situations. There's no need for players to make Bolts unless they are planning a very specific kind of a raid. C4 airborne placing is... well, broken even though it is severely underused. Prevent an explosion of crazy raiding. Revolver OP in terms of reload time. It is a really good weapon at the moment, needs a nerf that keeps it's effectiveness but gives it a flaw. Too good compared to its price. ### STRUCTURES ### - Metal walls now take 5 C4s to destroy, 4 when decayed slightly. Reasoning: It simply doesn't pay off to build metal structures. Simple as that. Smartly designed wooden bases outdo metal ones in raid resistance in every case. They can be built much faster and secured much more easily. I've played around a lot with the base designer from rusttools.com (even though it's slightly broken), and I've come up with a fairly cheap design (as for a 'fortress') that makes it impossible to raid the base through anything but doorways and I've gathered half the amount of wood needed (500planks needed, had 250) in under 2 days. In the same time I've gathered a fair bit of metal and used it on a metal 'can' base where I would keep my stuff more securely. I assumed it took more than 3 C4s to blow a metal wall. Apparently it takes just 2 C4s if well placed, even on a full hp wall (I've repaired it 2h before the raid, no dialogue came up. And it was built the day before so it was not decayed). Now, if I doubled that metal base and doubled the amount of wood I had, and then made that 'perfect' wooden base and a well designed metal base, the metal base would lose in raid-proofness very badly. Gathering more materials would not make metal superior in it's current form; the metal walls are just too weak. ### TOOLS/UI ### -From now on if you died when logged out, upon logging in and respawning it gives you the same death message as when you die normally, telling you who killed you and with what. -A new UI feature, somewhat resembling a diary. Automatically notes down deaths (who killed you, with what), manually can note down enemies, friends (intelligently, by SteamID-> alias, not by 'alias when he killed you'. Including a friend will affect name draw distance and door sharing. There's a limit to one's friends and death history. No limit to enemies. Reasoning: Knowing who killed you when you logged off, besides allowing revenge and buffing defence, also allows for large societies to implement a stricter policing system. If there was a proper town going and someone was killing and looting sleepers then this message would say who was the culprit. A diary would help everyone get organized, and it goes well with 'friends' features. I'm tired of having a notepad file to keep track of all important things that have been happening.
Might bump with updates. Very tired at the moment and I'm sure I had more ideas in mind. EDIT: Woops, sorry, didn't see the new sticky. Move please.
