I dont know whats wrong with rust a couple of days ago i was playing just fine until i started getting a bunch of error messages such as Oops your game has crashed and a file in the rust folder would say the the rust.exe has caused a access violation. I would also get an error saying the raknet.exe would cause an access violation too and i have tried running the game in administrator mode as well as verify the game cache reinstall the game 3 times and even delete steam and reinstall and still nothing. I really love this game and it sucks that it just randomly broke like this i just hope someone may help me fix this . This game eats up your ram. Make sure you have every other program closed whilst playing. That includes your web browser or Skype or anything you usually have running in the background. Game may still crash but will happen far less frequently.
I play the game with all programs closed and I can’t even get past the loading screen to join a server and it crashes
You need more ram
You need more ram
Everybody saying that you need more ram and shit. Well maybe, but how did I manage to play Rust ever since with 4 GB RAM. Till today I never had any issues (besides the issues everybody has) and I never had to change any of the standard settings. I don't think upgrading your RAM memory always solves the problem, but for sure it will improve your stats, I won't argue that!
8 gbs is the min. 16 gbs is the high point. [editline]20th June 2016[/editline]
Everybody saying that you need more ram and shit. What the hell are you playing on?
But yea I used to play on 4gb of ram and it worked fine . And when I upgraded my ram to 8gb it just got better .
So I'm not sure what to do now because I don't think that ram is causing it to crash and I just checked my of models and it said the max ram it could take is 8 .

Make sure you've done your Vista service pack updates and Windows updates. Make sure your AMD driver is up to date. Make sure your sound drivers are up to date. There's also the fact that your laptop is aging and can't really be considered a "gaming" laptop for new games anymore, sad to say. I'm not trying to make fun of you or it, but all technology becomes obsolete one day, and with gaming computers it's only a few years between release and then.
Thank you I will see if there are any updates and let you know if they worked thank you for the help . And no it's fine haha Ik the pc isn't that great but still thank you
