Hello,
I've had this issue for a while now with no solution. I have tried a bunch of options that EAC has put on other members posts with no success. When i launch Rust through steam and click try experimental. I get a white box that says this information.
"Rust Launcher Error: InstallationError - EasyAntiCheat installation failed: EasyAntiCheat installer failed to acquire sufficient privileges."
I do not have any anti virus software at all. I even turned my windows firewall completely off. As well as made sure Rust/Rust client, and easyanticheat were all allowed through the firewall settings.
I also did the right click delete local files. restart my pc and re install. As well as the making a shortcut with EAC and adding install 12 with no luck
Here are the boxes that pop up when i click on the try experimental

Are you family-sharing Rust from an account that owns it? Because last I heard that wasn't working. Try from the original account.
Never mind, I found your Steam account and you definitely own it.

Try running Rust.exe in the experimental folder explicitly as administrator?
Also make sure your Windows profile is an Administrator (Control Panel > User Accounts).

I am the only user on the PC and it is the Administrator...Just checked. I can go inside the steamapps/common/Rust/experimental. Then right click the Rust launch and it will start. I will get only 20 seconds worth of the game then it boots me.
I know this is a EAC issue, because of the DOS box that pops up and says it failed to install EAC. I just have no idea how to correct this. I'm running out of options.
Start > Run > 'services.msc'
Is there an EasyAntiCheat service listed? If so, what is its current state (started, stopped) and start parameter (manual, automatic, etc.)? Don't change anything, just if it's there. I expect it won't be, but it's worth checking.
[editline]17th August 2014[/editline]
But really, wait for eac knubbe or one of the others to see this. I'm no expert on fixing EAC when it acts like this.
Right click on the EasyAntiCheat exe. Go to security. Then Advanced. How are the permissions on that page?

Read these before I made the post. They are not receiving the same errors I am. Thanks though
Bump for EAC to respond. Is there any help desk ? or support for EAC?
Why don't you ask the EAC guys here? Like eac knubbe. PMs work great when you don't automatically get noticed.
Put some effort into finding help already. I didn't even have to open a thread to get that profile link, it was one of the 'last posted' entries in the experimental forum thread list on page 1.

So it is true. You are just an angry ass hole. For one, I know who the two members from EAC are. Now if you put some effort in to what you say, then you would see neither Knubbe or Sma, have PMs activated on this forum. So do me a favor, you obviously have nothing worth any credability to say on this topic. So stop cluttering it with your non sense. Thanks
Hi,
It seems that the installation fails due to insufficient privileges. Please do the following:
Open command line as Administrator and browse to the Steam\SteamApps\rust\experimental\EasyAntiCheat\
Then execute the following command: EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe install 12
1. http://puu.sh/aXQs0/7b833fd7b1.png
2. http://puu.sh/aXQui/b0856f08eb.png
Do you get SUCCESS or FAILURE for the installation in command line now? If you get successfull install, then you should be able to start Rust Experimental now in Steam.

Thanks Knubbe, I will do that when i get home today in a couple hours. I did this same action going through Progamfiles(86)/steam/steamapps/common/rust/easyanticheat.
Added the shortcut with adding install 12 and when it went to launch i received the dos box in the first image that fails to launch.
Could you turn on your PMs? I know you guys don't have chance to check every post.
Okies, great! Let me know how it goes. If it still doesn't work, then we'll figure it out. :)
For us its more convenient and easier to keep all troubleshooting in forum threads. This way anyone encountering the same issue will find help at forums. I'll be checking this thread every hour or so today and tomorrow, no worries.

Is your Steam folder located in C:\Steam\?
Or is it in something like C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\?

I thought i was programfiles(x86) as well. But I did exactly has he asked me to, then I'll go from there.
Ive tried to access the x86 program files through CMD but it won't go to it. But i can access just the normal Program Files.
[editline]18th August 2014[/editline]
I figured out how to access it through CMD. Here is the result

Open the command prompt as administrator and do it, since EAC needs admin access to install.

Okay, went to start, typed in cmd. Then right clicked ran as administrator. Did the same steps as the last time and same message.

Hi,
For some reason your user account doesn't have access privileges to write to the registry or access system32 folder then. :(
It may be anti-virus, but more likely something like DeepFreeze or parental control suite blocking the account from performing anything as Administrator.
Could you screenshot processes list (CTRL+SHIFT+ESC) and/or list what programs you are running in system tray? Anything you could think of that would be able to block or have intention of restricting user access?
It might also be a virus infection in system blocking your access to system files, but that again is quite unlikely to be the cause. Basically if the Administrator account cannot even access the registry for write, then it is impossible for EAC to work as it cannot go around the system security.
As @elixwhitetail suggested, you could try if the same happens on different Windows account which has Administrator rights granted. If you check from Control Panel in user accounts, is there anything that would indicate that it would have restricted access? http://puu.sh/aYbks/6e2316cc69.jpg
Also another thing that comes to my mind, check that the executable has not been blocked by Windows. (Rare case, but its possible) Right click EasyAntiCheat_Setup.exe and check that it doesn't have the "unblock" button in its Properties: http://www.lerup.com/images/unblock.gif
Try also creating a new Windows user profile, as a separate step.
Strange.. I've never seen such before, need to think what could cause such restriction. I'll let you know if I can find something.

What does this mean?
It means that post isn't there and you can ignore it.
Just tried removing steam and all my files. Restarted my PC, then installed Steam and Rust again. Same message :/
I will say this. When Rust was in experimental before EAC was added. I had no issues playing on it for hours.
Reinstalling Steam is not going to do anything if there is something wrong deeper in Windows.
Have you tried making a second profile? It doesn't harm your existing profile and you can delete it when you're done if you don't want to keep it. (Just name it distinctly.)

Good Morning Knubbe and elixwhitetail. I'd like to thank you guys for your effort and help on this topic. I did try last night as one final step to create a new account on my pc and that did not work either. So after a very long night of backing up my files. I formatted my HDD and installed Windows 7 from scratch. It was a long process, but I'm glad to report I can now access Rust experimental and EAC works just fine.
I really wish I could have figured out the cause of that, but I figured if there's something on my PC that is blocking EAC from starting up, then who knows what's on my PC and I should probably start fresh. My tower is really only used from streaming and gaming, so I have no clue what could have got on there to block EAC.
But anyways,Thanks for all your help guys and elixwhitetail...Smile some time buddy :)
