• Ghillie suit?

What about adding the ability to craft ghillie suit in the game? If you don't know what a ghillie suit is, there's some examples below.
I don't really see the advantage at this point. These are used mostly by marksmen, and considering we don't have a sniper rifle...
Can be used for hiding and better camouflage etc.
Seems a little impractical to me, what are you supposed to craft it with, exactly?
Seems a little impractical to me, what are you supposed to craft it with, exactly?
Cloth and dirt/grass?
Seems a little impractical to me, what are you supposed to craft it with, exactly?
Hahaha, so you can craft a M4 but not a ghillie suit which is one of the easiest clothing pieces to make by your own? About practicality ... Approaching someone in black/red/naked is very visible ... some kind of camouflage would be good to do recon actions.
Seems a little impractical to me, what are you supposed to craft it with, exactly?
Are you kidding, how can you not see the practicality of a Ghillie Suit? It's somewhat difficult to run from someone and give them the slip at the moment - If they want you dead, they'll chase you and you will die. (Ignore the zig-zag tactic) Having a Ghillie Suit will allow you to run and make an attempt at hiding in the forest, by blending in with the surrounding, rather than partly clipping into a tree while you stand behind it. I think a Ghillie Suit is a much needed addition to this game. I hope they go in a direction that somewhat brings stealth to the game, in a sense.
I like this though everyone would want one so it should be rare like explosives
I like this though everyone would want one so it should be rare like explosives
Agreed.
+1 for this
Ghillie suit attachment, like a Holo sight except for armor. Do it.
There's nothing to actually blend in to, especially when you can turn grass off.
There's nothing to actually blend in to, especially when you can turn grass off.
then thats the price the wearer can pay but let me tell you I've hid in shadows and many bushes and haven't been spotted even when they turn grass of because bushes don't go away...
There's nothing to actually blend in to, especially when you can turn grass off.
Yeah, if you want it to work properly, there will need to be balancing to allow it to even work, since graphical settings can be exploited to see through a disguise like that.
i think its good to get military uniforms like desert, urban, forest and ghille suits. 1+
This isn't a military sim... Call of Duty just came out though. Follow the herd.
Add this and add the ability to prone. [editline]6th November 2013[/editline]
This isn't a military sim... Call of Duty just came out though. Follow the herd.
lol never said it was. I didn't know a ghillie suit made this a military simulator?
Wookie +1
Rethinking things, I think I see an easy solution afterall... Not complete camouflage, but instead the render distance on the wearer is MUCH shorter, as long as they are prone on the ground. This would allow the wearer to see their target before they see them. It serves two uses: hiding from people to avoid a conflict and potentially losing a lot of stuff, or to get the drop on someone to grab their goods. For balancing purposes, the full suit is about as durable as cloth armor, meaning you can get gunned down easier. Just a thought, I try to remain optimistic about any idea, I feel that with some tweaks, this one just might be viable and fit in, provided enough justification can be made for it  On a side note however, I feel that the design you posted wouldn't be viable, since it looks kinda... swampy :v: it should be a lighter color to match the landscape, and not be quite as "fluffy" as the one you posted. Other than that, I say this might have a chance at making it into the endgame! And to address the first poster on the whole marksman idea, I think that a .308 single shot rifle would be nice, nothing special, operating on the same reload principle as the pipe shotgun. Doesn't need a scope, just to be extended range. People will argue "the M4 has a long range already" but the M4 is also a spray-and-pray middle ground rather than a single shot rifle basically dedicated to longer range usage only, and there would be no use hip firing it either. With an addition like that, the suit definitely gains some usefulness.
1 we cant not lay down 2 This is not fucking dayz
1 we cant not lay down 2 This is not fucking dayz
The idea is that it will get implemented eventually. And really? "This is not fucking DayZ," this is as if to imply that DayZ invented prone and ghillie suits. That is some excellent logic, you really live up to your name, sergeant shittles.
Just a couple of problems with this, most people use grass.on false so they don't lag, this removes grass, and another problem would be the fact that a lot of users actually can't see trees, they're just invisible. If you want to be the little clump of grass that is completely out of place, AND help Garry develop a new crouch/prone option, go ahead. Btw the idea is good, the implementation is bad

I think this would be good because it is practical and real Personally I've made 1 ghilie suite and working on another. All I use to make them are.. -burlap -string/hot glue -medical cloth/cheese cloth -spray paint Burlap as the jacket and pants, coverd in in strands of medical cloth (cheese cloth) spray painted green and brown. In all this took me about 2-5h to make not including the time drying
That's awesome, any chance you got some pictures? that would really be useful here.
Yeah, I'll get some up as soon as I can
Honestly the ones of you who are saying "This isn't DayZ" Or "This isn't Call of Duty" Are a bunch of idiots. Please tell me how Call of Duty and DayZ are at all related to this? True they have Ghillie suits and the ability to prone. But the army soldiers in real life have been using prone tactics for years before both of those so those games did not invent the ability to prone... As far as Ghillie suits go i'm all for it. True there aren't many places to hide but it's all to do with preferable vision. Easier too see someone that is running in blue/red clothing then a Ghillie suit. As far as I can see this would make alot of people happy and honestly if you don't want to wear one/have one don't. If you don't want this too be OP then just recommend that they make the armors defense a little more than cloth? Some of you are so narrow minded and can't see past all the larger "Labeled" games of today.
I like this though everyone would want one so it should be rare like explosives
if its rare, only the higher leveled/experienced players will get it and all the noobs will die much more often.
A Ghillie suit would be perfect for hiding in the shrubs because they still spawn with grass off. I think they should hide the name if your crouched too.
