Been running around for an hour - no animals found

So, I don't know what's going on... I've been running around a server for an hour now and have not seen a single animal, shelter, or anything that is edible. I don't understand how you're supposed to survive when the game provides nothing to use for survival.

I'm starving to death again. I would have though that animals could have been found at some point around here -- but an hour of searching is pretty ridiculous for finding nothing, especially the ridiculous amount of time it takes to die from first spawn... What's going on here? Why am I not seeing a single animal?

Try another server, I am finding lots of animals, try searching woodland areas.

Sometimes i have this issue and i have to disconnect/reconnect before anything appears anymore. Also you could be in an area which is not finished and has no supplies.

I think the very first time I logged into a game there were no animals, then animals spawned the next day, then zombies the next. I'm not sure if this is bug or design but it is frustrating. If you were running for an hour and didn't see anything.... sounds like something might be amiss. Granted, there are areas of the map that have no animals... they just don't spawn there. Maybe you got horribly unlucky... who knows.

You may be in the empty parts of the map. Only the centre is populated with animals, resources, loot and people.

PS - You can suicide if you are lost/in the middle of no where by pressing f1 and typing suicide.

Get out of no mans land ;) Dont go North-East. You will die of hunger... trust me :)

Thanks for all of the tips and information everyone! I joined a different server where the people are very helpful. The area I am in definitely seems to be filled with animals -- thanks again everyone! :)

Animal spawns are still static as far as I know. I f you find an area with animals around, chances are they consistently respawn there.
