• Cant play game - Monitor shuts off

Hey, MY friend is having this problem where he starts up the game and joins a server but as soon as he swings his rock his monitor shuts off.. I had him check his temps and they are fine, infact he opened BF4 and had rust open in the back and played for a match then went to rust and sure enough when he swung it turned off and he can only restart his computer to fix it, I had him connect to another monitor... re install the game, drivers, swapped out the ram and also reseated it because he had 2 different kinds and nothing works. anyone know whats going wrong?
Even though you said he check his temp's that is the only thing that I know of that can cause that. When the computer is forced into hibernation/shutdown due to overheating. But that is a very odd issue. Is he still able to run around and loot etc?
Might be temperature, tell your friend to bench with occt or similar and check for overheating. Benching is generally the only surefire way to tell temperature issues, there are plenty of free tools out there too. However, i've been having a similar problem with the most recent AMD beta drivers in certain games where the monitor appears to shut down due to unsupported resolution and generally i need a restart to fix it. Maybe try non beta drivers or a rollback.
Yeah hes still able to run around, I checked his power options too.. we tried beta too.. Ill have him roll back but if something where overheating the comp should lock up no? instead of allow him to still move around and talk in ventrilo.
Hm... Correct. If he's still able to run around, it's not a lockup, crash, out freeze. As i've said, I've had a few games where the signal wasn't properly reaching the monitor, random occurrence, but rust isn't one of them. Is he by any chance using AMD too? Properly wipe the drivers and try to roll back. Also, check for conflicting programs, such as game boosters, FXAA injectors, and whatnot. make sure try windowed mode also.

Thanks ill have him try this when he comes over. [editline]17th December 2013[/editline] I just sold him the computer last week so I dont think we can roll back to any drivers, he tried the beta drivers so im going to have him try the the newest one but we just installed that about a week ago... Anyone else know what can be wrong if this doesnt work? It only seems to happen when he swings his rock, he can run around and stuff but as soon as he swings his rock it shuts off.
