as title says, i think it would be sweet to add some sort of lift/elevator mechanic into the game. You have your base/lookout tower with a nifty way to get up and down. How do you all feel about this?
It would make people create some ridiculous impossible to reach places. Even if the lift/elevator was universally accessible that could always be used to ambush people. In short, I don't think it would be a good idea.
If implemented, limits would definitely be required. =) Edit: After a bit of thinking, this sounds like a neat idea. What I imagine is a wooden lift system that uses pulleys, something like an old-fashioned dumbwaiter. It should have the same space requirements as stairs but not be stack-able vertically. This would make it no more beneficial for raiding than building a set of stairs. You can stand on it, hit "E", and ascend/descend at a reasonable speed. I would add a one-second cool-down to prevent abuse. Crafting it should probably require wood planks and rope, which could be made from cloth. The rope should require research or a blueprint to prevent crafting the lift too early on. Just my two cents. =)
Yeah this could be pretty cool if it was in a old school fashion e.g. pulley system.
This would be awesome. If you are going to say this can be abused for whatever reason at least explain why. Who says that it will have lock protection, like doors?
Yeah, I don't think a lift should have lock protection like doors have. As long as the space requirements are the same as stairs and it only goes up the same distance, I don't see it being used to get into bases. =)
