Object Spawning - Rust - Facepunch Forum

Hey guys, So, Im not in the alpha yet, but I'm fine to wait, (just gonna clear that up now, im not begging :P ) I just wanted to know one thing, and this is directed to the people who have played for a while. (btw, i have done a lot of research, and can't find anything) With the wood piles, and city things, do they spawn randomly, in different areas, or are they permanent fixtures? Because if its random generation, thatd make it interesting to explore, but if they are permanent, and they don't all have Radiation hotspots near them, whats to stop a group of people making that their home? Also, the crates in the little cities, are they randomly placed, or again, permanently placed??? Any help would be appreciated! Bye~

They spawn randomly in predesignated areas. The crates in cities are destroyed when looted, and respawn in the same location every 10 minutes or so.

There's set 'zones' where Wood Piles/Ore Rocks will spawn, usually in an around the spawn areas, and the surrounding forests, the loot crates will spawn in the exact same places in each lootable area, usually identified by being massively irradiated, and a danger to be in for more than few minutes, although each set crate spawn point will have a chance to spawn any of the available crates (Default, Weaponry, Medical and whatever others there are).

Cheers man! So, will the crates that respawn have the same quantities of the things it had before you looted them As in, If i was to find a red one, that had an M4 blueprint, and some flares, will the next time it spawns, will it have the exact same fillings, or will it have something different??? therefore making your own crate, and putting a sleeping bag down invaluable??? Just a passing thought i had.

You can't make your own red crate, although you can make your own wooden storage crate, but that's not the same, as they don't randomly spawn items inside of them. But if you're asking what I think you're asking, then no, they can spawn with any number of items, most i've seen is 2 or 3 though, so you usually don't get that many items with each crate.

All I meant was a Wooden Crate, but, let me make my thoughts more understandable, Do the crates spawn with the exact same items each time, or are they different each time that they spawn?

It's random each time the box respawns, I presume.

Oh right, sorry, I mis-understood the first time, but the answer is no, they spawn with random loot of a certain type depending on the crate (random meds for medical e.t.c) each time they respawn.

I sticked more to crafting rather than going around looting boxes. I don't feel like being overrun by mohawks.
