I don't want to go to some third party and pay out the ass each month to have a server. I want to host it out of my house. Devs should release the files to do so.
Anyone agree?
Sure it would be great, but consider that this is still an alpha so i guess that will not happen too soon.
I want to host my own dedicated server too, cause I have a webserver (quad core, 24 Gig RAM) that would be great to host a public rust server. I hosted a big DoD:S Server once on that server - no problem, great performance.
Installing, hosting and updating a steam based game server is not a big deal, so I don't know why they don't release the dedicated server files. It would be great for the game, cause privatly hosted servers will increase the player count massively.
I'd like my own dedicated server as well. But until then I'll settle for 3rd party.
i would like to host servers and could probably do a better job on my own that some of the companys hosting at the moment. yes dedi files would be nice but finding a hoster that has stock in your region and you don't have to wait 2-3 days for the server to be setup is nearly impossible. i have the money to buy but don't want to wait 2-3 days while they setup a server

2-3 days really isn't too bad. Especially if you're just doing the same thing on another server that you'll be doing on your own server. If this was Beta without any more wipes I could see not wanting to wait 3 days.
