So i'm new here and ive been through a ton of posts trying to figure out how to make a proper mod for rust.
i understand its not officially supported and is mainly reverse-engineered, but how is everyone getting access to the server files ? ive been looking through a few game server hosts and none give you access to the actual files, some dont even let you add mods !
so everyone who made a mod for this game are friends of the game dev's ? no actual community work here?
There are leaked server files from an older version, not saying thats how they got it ^^
seriously ? nothing ? i'm the only one thats bothered that this game can only be modded by 'select individuals' ?
Specific GSPs are granted access right now by Garry and authorized individuals. Once the game is further along, I'm sure he'll open it up more.
I've been wondering the same thing.. How are mods even possible with all this control over the dedicated server files.
Seems kinda silly if you ask me. Somebody must be able to get access to the server files to modify them.
We're teamed up with the GSPs. That's how we get server files. Its all about connections. If you have the right network, then you can get the right resources. And no that doesn't mean you should get cracked server files to make a mod, that's just wrong.

this is the minor issue about the case, the biggest one is why only very selected gsp's are allowed to host the game while loads of ppl are complaining about their shit services?

seriously.. how do i get teamed up with a GSP? i'm willing to pay for a server.. provide proof that i'm a real developer (i'm a c# team leader right now, have around 7 years of experience in the field), but how do i even prove i'm serious when i cant even create a POC ?
Send an email to their ticket team or inquiry inbox. Include something about wanting to develop a mod for rust but need more ftp access to do so. Basically.
