Hey Facepunch devs; I know a lot of people do not like the current lock and key system but I think it's a wonderful idea. To actually build upon the idea, why don't you make locks place-able on loot containers. That way you can actually have a "lock box" instead of just a "chest". This way even if someone happens to break into your house and kill you, your possessions are safely locked up in a box. Also what about the idea of upgrading containers like buildings? Just some thoughts; keep up the great work guys! Love what you're doing!
Great idea, just cp the pinlock solution from doors to containers. Btw. there is a bug with pinlock, when other player is trying to open doors and you will unlock and open them, the lock is staying on the same close door position and doors are opened.
You would have to make the boxes unable to be destroyed though or this feature would be kinda useless. They would just smash the box up and the loot gets dropped on the ground.
the locked storage box is already planned.
You can also print some text on it:

Edit: and this is a video of it rendered in game.

See I thought the same thing; which is why I suggested making the chests upgradable. That way they can either hold more or just be better protected from hits taken.
