• Rust Android App, What should I put in it?

I am developing a Rust app, what do you guys think I should include in the app. And before you ask, sorry no iPhone app. I don't like developing for iPhone as, when I pay the $100 bones and get it into the store I never get any downloads, mostly for something I will be giving out for free, sorry iPhone users. I plan on making an app that is almost a wiki. I thought about a resource calculator, maybe kind of a wiki on one page about guns and their damage, as well as kevlar and it's health and how to get started stuff. A Dev twitter feed page. Maybe even a, "Check out these Rust YouTube Vids" page. I am really not sure, It will be a free app as I mentioned before so what do you guys think I should also add? Any ideas. The plan is to have it out on the Play Store by mid January 2014.
I don't know much about app development or how open the API for Rust is atm but would it be possible to 'link' your character status so you could view hunger and stats in real time? That seems like a really cool concept and it'd be fab if it was possible in the future.

This is the website that used to track it, it was awesome. http://playrust.net/
Ah that's a shame. I guess in the meantime what you suggested would work well. Having a resource calculator handy on the phone would be a huge plus for me :)
Maybe you should put a Rust Map into your app? Just suggesting.
Maybe you should put a Rust Map into your app? Just suggesting.
I could do that. Maybe a couple to detail certain areas. Will do.
Crafting calculator for houses and more complicated items like c4
Map viewer
If you do add a map and are planning to draw it up yourself or modify an existing one please consider adding contour lines ^^
If you do add a map and are planning to draw it up yourself or modify an existing one please consider adding contour lines ^^
What do you mean contour lines?
What do you mean contour lines?
Contour lines are used to determine the steepness of a slope. The Rust map has a lot of hills but thus far I've been unable to find a topographical map which has accurate contour lines.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but since it's a PC game, wouldnt it just be easier to do the following. A, Make an actual wiki using wikia B, Go to the actual dev twitter page C, search "Rust" on youtube I'm sorry but spending all this time, developing something essentially useless is not a great idea.
DayZ for example has some really successful apps.
Would be cool if you could add a map with the locations of important landmarks such as radtowns, resource spawns, and air drops.
Would be cool if you could add a map with the locations of important landmarks such as radtowns, resource spawns, and air drops.
Airdrops, for what I understand, are completely random.
It would be nice to be able to have the calc/wiki/map on hand instead of having to tab in or out of a window or the game. This would be a convenience app and hes making it because hes into the game. there is nothing wrong with this, as far as i've seen hes not trying to sell it.
And? If you are basing success off of something that has already succeeded, you get half arsed attempts at things. DayZ for example, is popuplar. So WarZ exists, and look at how that turned out. [editline]9th November 2013[/editline] What you want to make is completely redundant and almost entirely useless, just sayin'
dude. Why you gotta be like that? It would be nice to have an app with a interactive map, landmarks, Wiki, FAQ, Calculator and stuff like that :)
Because if people spent months (which it really shouldn't take that amount of time to make an app as simple as this) making something that already exists in a more simple form, we would still be in the dark ages making more complex shields that we would ever possibly need.
I am not going to spend months doing it... I am not starting it until December 5th. It's a class project. You need to stop being a total dick dude.
It would be nice if people could draw on the map and mark things
a map, a timer of night and day.
Sounds like a very good idea Var, I will be interested to see where you can take it. Regards, uK
I'm sorry I don't feed you compliments about this. If its for a class go for it, but I'm telling you right now you are most likely going to lose interest on this due to it being such a simple and pointless project. [editline]9th November 2013[/editline] Don't sign your posts
You're wierd dude. He is being nice, developing a appliaction for the community. Not asking any money for it, just giving it away from free. And you just come on here and try to start a flame-war. I don't understand, does it make you happy to see people argue? -Regards, MrPancake
