Just downloaded the game, every time I start the game I get a black screen, if I tab out i see rust.

AS the title says, I just bought the game and installed on steam, and everytime I hit play, I get the configuration page, and when I hit play, the screen comes up and I see the facepunch logo for a second, then it goes to a black screen with a mouse cursor on it. Waited a few min and nothing. Alt-tab out and I see "Rust.exe has stopped working". Tried uninstalling/reinstalling, and verifying integrity of game cache, same thing.

And if needed my PC specs are as follows.

AMD Phenom 975 BE
Asus M5A97 R2.0
NVidia 480 GTX (2GB VRAM)
8 GB DDR3 RAM

Hope you can help me hop in on this wonderful looking game :)

Edit : Just tried the game in windowed mode and it works fine. The error only happens when I run it in fullscreen. Will play windowed for now but hoping you can help me figure out how to go full :)

Supposedly this is a known bug when Unity uses DX11 for rendering.
Try in Steam, right click Rust and choose Properties, then click Set Launch Options, then enter the following:
-force-d3d9
