i think the server policy's face punch has in place right now are complete bull crap.
having to go to a "certified" host to be able to have a server. i dont see any reason why it should be like this. considering how gmod is.
next is how once you have payed for the game. you can use the latest dev build but the server your paying a but ton for cant. due to face punch studio policy's. i find this to be in poor taste to the community. and over all poor way to interact with your paying customers. kick backers and or steam.
and just to raise my point a bit more. the official servers are lagy and are well crap to say the least.
but all this is my opinion and i have no clue if any body shares my opinion at all.
please let me know what you think. i would love to hear a reasonable reply back for the way things are.
as we pay to help test this game. so we should have the right to know why things are the way they are.
next time read what your provider offers you and compare them with others before buying.
playrust.eu offers this.. but there is no ddos protection which is lame... but yeah just saying
Hello xxxxx, The Rust developers have expressed that they do not wish for server providers to host the developer branch. In the future if this restriction is lifted, we will update the control panel with an option for the developer branch.

you should be lucky they are even letting people have their own servers in a alpha game. To my understanding they don't want release the server files because they don't want people heavy modding their game.
The primary reason is to keep the server files and source out of the hands of deprogrammers to help reduce cheats. Once a skilled person has that data they can decompile it and make exploits much more easily. Notice how the only thread posted about private server files is posted by a known hack developer.

i still don't think that justify s the right to restrict it to gsp only.
or at least not have the right to run dev branch. i mean good god i know 20 dollars is not a lot of money but you are paying them to test there game and report bugs back to them. and to give them feed back to make them even more money. which is fine but there has to be some more give and take going on here.

i think your wrong on the hacker thing there. the server files have nothing to due with hack develpoment. it has to due with other things like by passing vac other then that yea. look up some hack provider sites register and ask them a few things im sure they be more then glad to answer
