Wouldn't it be better if every foundation was connected to the one who made it? Like for example when i put a foundation and someone else tries to place a house-part on it, the parts will turn red for them. This way it will prevent for hackers and idiots to ruin your base by placing house-parts all over it, which happened to me this morning.
Edit: Or as people suggested below, add something like a flag or marker to make it your base and add the ability to share it with other people.
Building can be a very important part for sieging :D
But a possibility to put something on your ground that prevents placing something.. like barbed wire or such might be fun.
I think claiming territory would be good for something like this. If you placed like a flag/marker on the ground it would claim a area around it that only lets you or group/clan can only place in. This would help start making people want to group up and start cities/towns/bases.
This is a very strong restriction.
I would prefer to group because of awesome things you can build together.
A system for traps would be awesome :>
This would be cool if you could give acces for people of your choice to use your foundations. And for the ones saying this would harden/deny invading! Ladders? I feel like ladders would be a really nice addition to the game. (Pardon me if there already are those in the game, sadly I do not have acces to it so honestly I do not know)

nonono in a real life apocalypse those principles wouldnt apply minus the physics
In a "real apocolypse" I don't think humans would evolve and develop super speed and the ability to go invisibility and use them solely to be as big of an arse as they can be to everyone else.

i agree, to make other people not be able to build on your foundation (other than the once you allow to build on your foundation), it can completly ruin your building
let say they break in and you have a 4x4 foundation no inner doorway or windows, what if they place a wooden wall in there to block of parts of your buildning and they cant be destroyed either, that would totaly ruin your house.
at moment people put barricades on top of each other to climb into buildnings and thats messed up place it like people do would in real life make em fall over.
think you shouldnt be able to place barricades on top of each other, atm they very cheap and easiest way to get into house with out breaking loads of doors.
compare to the version of placeing a foundation with pillars and stairs up 2-3 floors, witch cost a bit more.
