I looked through this section and couldn't find an old thread with a similar title, my apologies for the duplicate. (yes, I used the search too :p) Anway, to the point. I am curious as to which providers are the best. Here is what I am looking for. 1.) FTP Access. The ability to configure the plugins via FTP if I so choose. 2.) Plugin access. I'd rather be able to install the plugins myself rather than have to create a ticket for someone else to do it. 3.) Good customer support. Short ticket times (Within 24 hours) 4.) Rust ++. Essentials, Oxide, Leatherloader, Dropparty etc etc. The provider must have these plugins available. What are your suggestions or opinions about the current set of providers. Considering a switch because our current hose takes waaaay to long to respond to support tickets. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Depending on your location I would strongly suggest trying to get in with BMRF. They don't support Oxide but from your list it looks like that isn't required. I have tried or spoken with every authorized Rust host that has servers in the US, short review below: RustGameServers - Had 60 hours of downtime first 3 weeks, they seem to be turning things around and are attempting to manage their sudden growth. I chalk the issues up to growing pains that they'll hopefully overcome. HFBServers - Stay far, far away. Terrible support, terrible servers. Server was down for 7 days straight before I got a refund and only after I made threats of reporting them. No communication and you can wait 24-72 hours for a response. Nitrous Networks - Pending refund request now, been down 16 out of the past 48 hours. They were too busy sleeping to answer my ticket, took 8 hours for a response (front webpage says avg 41 minutes). Server is still down. Multiplay - My first provider, canceled \ refund after very slow support times. Never could reach anyone on the phone even during business hours (on hold for X minutes then sent to voicemail). Live chat says 24x7x365 yet I've never seen it online. Limited access to files or to even update the game yourself. FPS Players - Contacted them and inquired about DDoS protection, staff told me they have unlimited protection, when I inquired further general manager said they were mistaken and did not have protection... next response staff told me they did have protection again, response after GM said no again... just based off them not having any clue what's going on I didn't bother signing up. BMRF - Talked to Jamie the owner extensively, got a server and have had no downtime. Unfortunately they don't support Oxide which is what I wrote all my plugins in. They do support Magma but it is early Alpha and has not yet caught up to Oxide in terms of hooks\features. Jamie is a solid and honest guy, would recommend if you don't need Oxide. PlayRust.EU - Inquired over tickets, only US location is @ LSN in Texas... for the northern\east coast the latency is too high. They may be including Chicago soon which would be nice. These guys are also involved with Oxide and get updated immediately upon a new Oxide release.
Thanks for the input. I've heard really good things about the last 4 you listed. I believe we're going to run with FPSPlayers right now. Oxide is a plugin that we've been considering so having it as an option is a definite plus for us, even if we choose not to use it. Again, thanks for the reply ;)
