• Metal Reinforcement (Choosing tier styles)

It would be nice if lower tiers could be reinforced. Preserve the appearance, improve the durability. I might want to build a wooden tree house, blend in with the forest or just because it looks good. But I am forced to go stone, metal and armor to offer any meaningful protection. Let us upgrade the HP of the lower tier so they can be equal (or maybe even better...) id see it like putting wood planking over armour, or reinforcing stone with metal bars etc. Reinforced wood could have metal on the internal etc. It removes the sameness of top tiers. Armor everywhere. Let us choose our style and have some variety :)
I do wish wood could be made more useful, but it's not something i'd want to see done urgently.
The whole point of each level looking radically different is so its easy to recognize. A wooden shack probably won't have as much loot compared to a metal one. I don't see masking as being a good feature unless it costs a lot more compared to straight upgrading.
Sounds like this would be a great equalizer then. I dont see this as a negative, just makes the game more strategic and requiring of thought for raid targets. Besides, the wall HP would tip you off......
Just cover the house in signs and paint it how you want.

I created a concept based on a similar idea and how we could add camouflage to our buildings, one way was by creating "Building Part Panels" made of wood and covered in Paper acting as wall paper. It works by using the same principle of the signs except the Building Part Panel fits precisely on what ever building part you want to place it on. This then makes it easier to to paint walls due to that unlike signs you don't have to paint multiple pieces to cover a wall. So this way you could have the Armored Tier Walls yet covered with Building Part Panels that would be painted with camouflage or textures. It would also be idea if you could harvest bushes and branches from the trees you cut down then attach them to you camouflaged building. I used to build tree houses in Rust back when they had the massive Redwood Trees that stood 4-5 times higher than normal trees, good times, though if someone wanted to all they had to do was cut the tree down. Of course mine were not exactly camouflaged

Painted panels only render from up close. So they are easy to spot from a distance, as the building then renders with gray like panels. Guys on my server made a rubrics cub building and only up close you where able to see the panels / colors. Its better to just have so much trees / foliage that it naturally covers your building. Also, armored is in general the best camouflage. It blends in good in forest with rocks or on cliff sides. One base i had was build against a cliff, small ( 2 * 1, two floor ) and three tree's around it. With wood it was slightly visible. Stone made it more noticeable but armored made it totally blend in. Personally, i found that the tree log pattern makes wood building stand out because of the unnatural horizontal lines. While armored with its more solid color blends better in, especially with rocks. And some tree's in front help to break the pattern even more. One tip: NEVER build your door facing the open, because your code lock red color = dead giveaway there is a door. Always try to build your door facing a rock so you need to crawl behind your building. This way your door's light does not draw attention. And be careful with furnaces because for some reason the game engine does not block the light correctly over distances ( it did before, but with this patch is see the furnaces lights over distance and only up close they hide like normal ). Even if your room is totally sealed in rock / armored multi layer, it still happens.
Its better to just have so much trees / foliage that it naturally covers your building.
This is one of the best ways to bury a base, and I rarely see people use it. It's true that forests come and go, but it's a much better solution than being out in the open. Especially when you're playing on servers with faster resource spawning or higher resource density.

When i investigated, it looked like there was a base on a rock, totally covered by tree foliage. I jump up on the rock and discover that the build had long time been abandoned. The funny thing being, if the sky-walk was not there, there was a 95%+ change to just run past, without ever seeing it. Did the guy get raided or not? It looked more like he started building, upgraded some walls to stone and the rest of twigs decayed. It was actually one of the better hidden bases but there where no ore rocks around. So maybe that is why he gave up on it?
Abandoned bases are always fun. Just like IRL, they're a sense of mystery and risk. Were they raided because they were too close to some other team's base? Were they just abandoned out of boredom? Is it safe to patch it up and take over?
