• Construction Suggestions for Rust

SORRY IF THIS IS THE WRONG PLACE TO POST - I COULDN'T FIND ANYWHERE MORE OBVIOUS FOR SUGGESTIONS Construction Objects I believe that just as Character customization is important (like clothing), Building Customization is important. Since the developers have begun adding more clothes into the game recently, I think I have a few simple idea's for construction that should be considered: - MORE WINDOWS Bunker Window A window block that is just as wide, but has less viewing height, perhaps half. This would be ideal for shooting from, since no one could jump in leaving plenty of firing space. Castle Window A smaller window that is shaped vertical, like an arching castle/church/tower window. Circular Window Why not? :D Perhaps a small version (0.5m wide?) and a large version (takes up most of the square unit's area, 2m?) - MORE DOORS Double Door This should take up 2 square horizontal units, so as to require at least 2 connected foundation units to place upon. It would be much more apropriate for group players that build huge "Castle" bases, but are restricted to small doors. Garage Door Perhaps a door that slides upwards, this would be ideal for the use of Parking your Car inside your premises (even though they are not included yet) And would also suit "bunker" bases much better. Draw Bridge Door A Draw Bridge, as in a medieval one. It should be 2x2 square units wide, so it would be the same size as a 2x2 square foundation grid, but up-right. The Bridge should be almost 2 units tall and about 1.5 unit wide. It should obviously cost more resources than a normal unit. This would allow players to build functioning castles base systems. - MORE STAIRS Mirrored Stairs Please release the same step/stairs that exist, but with the option to reverse their image, some of us have OCD and bases with symmetrical corridor/stair systems xD Triangular Stairs Stairs that are compatible with Triangular foundations/floors. These should probably be 0.5 of a level and emulate "spiraling" steps that join at the central point of the hexagonal tower, for example. If they where exactly a 3rd of a level height, we would require 3 (half a Hex tower) to rise 1 level. Please give us a Mirrored Option of these as well. - OTHER CONSTRUCTION OBJECTS Triangular Friendly Rooftops Just like the existing rooftop units but to fit a triangular floor/foundation system. Trap Doors A normal square floor unit, that is divided into 2 equal hinged panels that open upwards, which are capable of being locked. This would be very useful for saving floor space when wanting to keep a lock between levels; it would take up no more space required to place the stairs, whilst putting a door (and therefore a wall) before/after a stair unit Does take up floor space. Doors in front of steps are also often a bit awkward. Fire Pits A raised square floor unit that is placed on top of a square foundation, It should raise about up to the characters knees, before having a lowered "pool" intended for placing wood and food in. This would be beneficial as Wooden Fire's are less permanent, fire pits should have many more item spaces like large chests. Final Notes on including so many new construction objects I understand that having all of these objects on the construction Wheel would be ridiculously delicate and less user friendly. I think to make these additions work, items of the same nature should be compacted into the Wheel selector, i have given an example of what i mean, with Times as representative of unit category directions within the wheel: 12 o'clock: Foundations (square, triangle, steps) 02 o'clock: Walls (full, half, low) 04 o'clock: Doors (normal, double, garage, drawbridge) 06 o'clock: Windows (normal, slim, circular L, circular S, Church) 08 o'clock: Floors (normal, trap door, fire pit) 10 o'clock: Others (Rooftops, Beams, Poles, Window Bars etc) these are examples. The player would bring up the selection Wheel, hover over the construction Class (or hour) and use arrow buttons on the Class to customize the selected unit of that category. The unit they select, example: Triangular Floor, should remain selected in the Foundations area of the wheel, until they decide to change it. Thanks for reading! And if a developer reads this - keep up the good work, I LOVE rust :) Open to debate/conversation.
Bunker windows are already possible check Youtube. Castle windows are possible but are more like vertical bunker windows. Circle windows...meh. Maybe port windows to shoot through would be good. Double Doors... meh. Garry is working on Compound Gates for Compound Walls however. Garage Doors. Maybe they will come with the vehicles that are being worked on. Draw Bridge... can make twig bridges that you can destroy after you've crossed... not sure how practical a draw bridge would be. Mirrored Stairs.... good suggestion. Or perhaps stairs that line up with doorways. Triangle Stairs.... Or just create spiral stairs. Triangular Friendly Rooftops...dunno. Trap Doors - Been requested. Along with hatches. Fire Pits. Can make a "pit" of sorts with low walls. The crafting menu idea is good, but if it gets overly complicated, it will just frustrate people.
oh yeah i think we should have Camping Kits too :) Like for 500 wood, 100 cloth, 100 hide you could make a tee-pee from sticks and animal skin, i think it would be a nice addition to the game for players that are just getting started as well as experienced players that get caught by the sunset when exploring (happens to me too often) They could have a sleeping bag inside the dome (just big enough for 1 player) that is part o the teepee object. Perhaps a camp fire outside too. The tee-pee should be non-repairable and decay over a couple of rust days, maybe. what do you think? Thanks for the input! also, i thought bunker windows would be good (as a specified piece) in the hope that one day we could have mounted MG's that can be applied to them, much like a lock to a door. I like the normal windows but the fact that players can jump one without bars is V annoying, because with bars you cant shoot out very well. I suppose its realistic though.
Teepees or tents would be cool. If you play with the building mechanics, there is a way to block the window so people can't jump through without using window bars. It's not pretty, but it works.
Sliding doors would be nice I keep hitting the issue with triangle foundations where the door doesn't open wide enough so I can get past the door/wall edge.
I'd like to see barn doors.
