Had a weird problem yesterday, looking for insight:
I always strip down before I log out, I've been killed by hackers in my sleep through the walls, and lost everything; lesson learned.
I was on yesterday, with a list of armor, and weapons; ran a few resource runs and created a half stack of gun powder, then logged off. I stripped down completely and put everything in my box, and when I logged back on a few hours later, ONLY the things I was wearing, carrying and created were gone. The gun powder was in a different box in my base, but still gone.
I woke up in my room, but my sleeping bag is in another place, so I know I didn't die or I would have spawned somewhere else other than my room. All the other gear in my box, such as other guns and ammo was all still there, and all other boxes in my base were undisturbed.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Server restored to an earlier backup point.

But I had all that gear for days, played for one hour, and lost it all. I understand how that could have been with the gunpowder, because I didn't check on the sulfur, but all my gear? P250 with 3 slots with attachments, bow, arrows, hatchet, leather armor, bullets....all gone from a previous restore?
There has been a lot of servers with memory leak issues, which cause the servers to rollback to a previous savepoint, usually 5-10 minutes before. If you put anything into a chest during this 5-10 minute window, it essentially gets deleted, due to the way the map and character data saves. It works the opposite way as well. If you take something out of a box in this 5-10 minute window, it essentially dupes the items. Only the map data (boxes, buildings, etc) gets rolled back, character inventories stay the same as when the server crashes.
You were unfortunate enough to log out right during this 5-10 minute window.
Womp womp... :(
Oh well, I crafted all my stuff again, and at least I understand WHY it happened, and that's what I was looking for.
Thanks for the reply
yeah sounds like server restarted back to a certain point
