• Suggestion : Shared banlist community

I`m thinking of setting up a community for sharing banlists for Rust servers. Is this something other admins would be interrested in?
I don't see the harm in it. As long as it's an admin only community and each banned name has a reason. Depending on the offence i might not add them to the list, but just keep a watch full eye. I'll try to keep an eye on this thread if it develops, thanks
This is always a noble idea, but often leads to unjust bans from badmins and thus creates a worthless game for any said victims. Depending on what sort of proof is required, it could be good or could be abused like a motherfucker.
I suggest asking gary to make something like a PBBans list but in relation to accounts getting banned off servers. Multiple bans on one account would be reason for flagging.
Its a terrible idea. Its finding someone guilty without actually knowing they are guilty. I don't trust all server owners to properly validate a ban, and thus wouldn't trust anyone to help create a ban list. Obviously its up to each server owner if they want to contribute, or even USE the list... but I don't believe in open banlists like this. Too much room for players to be victimized. Don't get me wrong. I still hate hackers to a VERY large capacity. But these methods often result in too many bad bans.
Its a terrible idea. Its finding someone guilty without actually knowing they are guilty.
The idea of the list is to ban the guilty completely without a second chance. Doing a VAC before they get VAC'd. It's purely understandable, and by all means, a user is allowed to protest a ban and appeal for it if the server allows it, or even lists their website. I full on support that. There is a proper way to do this, and a wrong way. I personally think it should be something like metabans but in a PBBans list display. Banned of server by server, and on the list it will list the steam users details and the reasoning behind bans. I think users should have a displayed reason for being banned no matter what, and not being able to edit a config file, but that's a much to complex system for such early into the development of the game.
The idea of the list is to ban the guilty completely without a second chance. It doesn't matter much if they can appeal, because their name will still be marked from then on by people who saw it. Now you can do what you want and ban whoever you want for whatever reason. Whether they did wrong on your server or their name is on a list. Thats your freedom. I just think its a bad idea.
