Never had any issues on any game before, update on all drivers etc, run the game for about 5 to 10 mins, Monitor goes black and my pc crashs, but I dont BSOD.
Any ideas on what is causing it? I'm running everything on low and in windowed mode.

My game crashes after 5 minutes also. But my game like breaks things start dissapearing white strobes of light all over my game then crashes.

like this guy said it sounds like an overheating problem you have..
Also try and memtest maybe one of your sticks are bad and causing the crash...
I only say this b/c I had a somewhat same problem on COD BO2 and ppl from Tomshardware forums told me to run one b/c it helped others with the problem that is pretty similar to yours but mine was b/c Valve didnt like AMD or Radeon...

I've just done a full format and now when I launch rust it won't even open and instant crashes lol

Have you tried putting -force-d393 into the launch options for rust in steam, by right clicking the rust listing in steam and choosing the "set launch options..." and entering "-force-d393".
