As the title states. Was it ever well recieved by the community?, I havent heard anyone say a single positive thing about it,? The official servers have it turned off (i think?), and all the unofficial ones too? And if everyone thought it was such a bad idea, why did the dev's even finish the work on it?.
Well since all servers had it off by default and there did appear to be a larger majority who were against it, i don't think just about any servers have it on.
no everybody hated that stupid bull shit [editline]12th February 2014[/editline] they finished work on it because they didn't think 88% of the community would foam at the mouth like they had fucking rabies when they were near completion. so they said fuck it and put it in for the pansies
It is an interesting idea, but not one that was properly implemented. To make locked backpacks work, the players need to be able to actually craft backpacks, and then reinforce them with a lock afterwards. Having backpacks locked at default and needing 8 LQM just to craft a one-time-use lockpick to get into them is absolutely silly.
If anything, it would only make sense if you could pickup the backpack, and then unlock it at your base. I mean, who drops a backpack and it becomes glued to the ground unless you unlock it?
I loved and still like the idea i don't get what the problem is.
Picking up the bag to open later is a good idea.... but altogether, was a huge waste of developer time, nobody wanted it in the first place...bad bad bad idea

Otherwise I don't see what the point would be
i can see the problem if we review the locked backpack as an actual seperate backpack, instead of your ''inventory'' in physical form. But i too agree that this was, and is catering to the more ''soft'' crowd. i cant be the only one that wants a SURVIVAL game without autosaves and unicorns.
People act as though this took them weeks to implement.. I'm guessing it was done in a few hours and was coupled with a plethora of other things that made up the update. Not only that but it's completely optional and now we have lockpicks which I would bet money that they will serve more purpose later on. Stop whining about shit that has absolutely zero effect on you, I haven't seen a server that has it yet, but it's nice to know there's the option and I hope they will add more things to be picked by the lockpicks.
Its bull shit, I thought this was a survival game, but no I guess not add locked back packs in so it can be more care bear. Only reason why there added is due to the 12 year olds QQin about getting killed as fresh spawn and losing there rock..
was on a server with 2min locked backpacks and not usable lockpicks and it was quite fun. like little king of the hill moments around the locked backpacks.
