• Ideas/Fixes for Rust

I have been playing Rust over the last month and feel this game has VERY good potential but it is just nowhere near yet. I understand the game is still in experimental and is being work on. I have NEVER played legacy, only heard of it so my ideas may have already been tried in there. As I have been playing I have been making notes of ideas/fixes for the game. I am pretty sure the developers will have already had these ideas cross their minds before, but I just want to put this out there as a player to what I would like to see in the game. I am actually taking a break from the game as I have 3 or 4 other games that I will be playing over the next few months, however I WILL return to rust some point next year and would love to see many updates and improvements. The following is in note form and I do not have the time to re-arrange the text, so sorry about that. I just want to get my ideas out there, I understand some ideas will not be implemented but I am just putting it all out there… Ideas/Fixes for Rust: Taking things out of furnaces while cooking, Taking ALL of an item, Putting bars or making windows un crouch jumpable, Need to be able to pickup placed objects, Splitting items with a full inventory causes them to disappear, The game is too easy, make gathering wood and everything much harder, easliy get everything you need within less than an hour for advanced player. Many of the current tools are useless, Make advanced tools very hard to obtain but are noticably better then the standard. Makes leaving home with valuables makes you more on edge, excitment for bandits. Starvation and Hydration is useless at the moment, need to be more easily starved/dehydrated, more so in certain areas e.g. dessert makes you more dehydrated. Make descriptions for tools more formal. Blueprints descriptions are poor when you right click they are in random order, looks lazy. More guns/basic gun attachments, More melee, More Animals, Birds, Sealife, Lions, Tigars, Sharks More preditors, In game diseases, cure via potions crafted, keep em handy when exploring certain areas like jungle. More food, More clothes, Drinkable things, Build wells/collect water, Moats, Needs ALOT more high value items which are hard to obtain. High value resources to improve/make strong bases. Pets, Wolves/Cats. House Banners to highlight clan buildings. Clan vests. In game experience, Spend on ingame perks/upgrade tools. Loose all experience upon death. If on tools needs to be carefully balanced so that tools dont become OP. An OP tool should be very hard to obtain. At the moment stone hatchet is OP and is very easy to obtain. In game challenges: e.g. Miles travelled, Resources gathered, Human eaten, Animals killed, Add varitey and interest. Upon entering server, choose between at least a few pre-set characters adds variety. Creation of Maps which reveal as you explore, should be a hard to obtain a highly revealed map, would hate to die with it... Add personal markers on the map. Should not have a keycode lock upon spawning (although I think that is temporary anyway to get people to try them out). Keep the game not TOO modern era, no electricity, no c4s/explosions too easy to grief, Keep guns to WW2 or earlier generation. People like how it is raw caveman type survival. However it maybe accepted if a player could advance into the mordern era if they survive for a long period, prehaps the longer you survive, the more you learn, the more you advance through the ages, MUST be limited prehaps 5 days (real life) on a server survived over night to advance a day. This advances you an era so you get more types of guns/things to create in order to survive. Upon dying you go back to square 1. Although this may result in these playing not wanting to die that they KoS everyone without questioning. So prehaps not, but ideas are there. Needs to be kept at being hard to grief if effort has been put into building the base, hence why no c4/explosives. All bases should be kept at being breakable, but should require alot of teamwork/effort in order breakthrough e.g. the front door. Future, high level clans will have set players to work the night shift in order that say a rival clan all meets online at night to break in. Very far from but the game has potential to do so. Pets to protect base overnight. Clans/Crews/Teams or survivers should be identified much better. Who enemys, allies and neutrals are. Player/Charator animations: Wave, Hug, Handshake, Dance, Curse, etc. Adds humour/communication. BIG must. Should beable to craft large rucksacks to expand your inventory space. Workbench to craft certain items, makes it harder to get guns. Fall damage needs to be implemented. MAJOR PROBLEM FIX: People trolling putting double walls infront of doors, trapping people in. If you build foundation, only you can build on them. Set permissions on foundation for friends to build. Stop people breaking in through windows so easily building stairs. MAYBE not so realist, but not realist that people can build these walls this quick in the first place. I just feel the building scheme needs more work as it is too easy to troll other peoples work, no-one as of yet is wanting to build high quality bases/castles as they will quite easily be ruined by trollers, adding extensions to your amazing castle that frustrate you that you cant destroy. As such, people are creating basic design houses just to store items, not interested about the look. Need more textures on buildings to make them look different. Maybe to prevent trapping yourself within your level 6 house, allow players to destroy own walls easier? People like trading to an extent. There needs to be more valuables in Rust for it to really work. Players will enjoy e.g. meeting up with untrusted people at dust in dark woods to trade goods, not quite trusting each other, has the other brought an backup when you said to them be alone? Do you back stab them and take both your and their goodies, can you get away with it? The trading should stay working via untrusted foes at distance by dropping the goods. We are caveman. We want to keep being able to loot from players standing next to you, however should be a notification if someone has looted, you would know if someone in real life nicked a gun off your back. Although perhaps a perk that allows you to loot with a chance of not being noticed “Sticky Fingers” or a perk that prevents an item you select from being looted “Trust No-one”
Good Ideas!
I read your post and in my head was "He's never played legacy and has no idea that the very same things he has mention'd that need to be "fixed" are fixes infact, from legacy.."
