I find it ridiculous that I can sprint full time all the time. I also find it ridiculous that a guy in full combat gear moves as well as a naked guy.
My suggestions:
- Give items weight. The more you carry the slower you go. A guy with full combat gear and tons of ammo or a guy out harvesting. No one should be able to move as fast as a butt naked character.
- Sprint meters. You can only sprint in bursts. Sprinting from one end of the island to the other is a little ridiculous. Jumping should also be affected by sprint meter.
Now that being said...
Adrenaline. When a player is hit he should get adrenaline that makes his endurance regen faster.
I believe weight is something on the to do list. Check their trello and read Garry's reddit AMA

I agree. I got all the materials gathered to get an entire 1x1 built, ran up, put it up real quick.
When weight is added, then it would be more feasible to have to make several trips, or make friends, and build it up.

How dare you assume I'm not capable of carrying that much weight!
I find that my rust life is identical to my real life in almost every way.
-I run around naked sometimes.
-All raw meet looks like chicken taste like chicken.
-I can carry ridiculous amounts of stuff and mass quantities of them.
-I build small guns that look and feel handmade and work like shit.
-My friends try and kill me and take my stuff.
-I feel alone in the dark at night
-At night there is a strange purple/black cascading black hole in the sky that looks like the world is being enveloped by a demon.
-I'm surrounded by oceans and live on an island
-Men are constantly mistakenly thinking I want something to do with them
-I'm a animal whisperer and can get dangerously close to almost all of them.
-When people look at me some people think im naked but its really flesh colored pants.
-I live in shitty wood houses because the metal houses are too noisy.
-I can run for extreme distances
-Bows and arrows are my favorite weapons
-Too many male friends not enough vaginas I mean women

I always liked the Civ way of building. Place a wall where you want it, then ad the materials needed. You can design anything but to build it you need to haul in materials. If more people help, the faster it goes.
This way if weight is added, then you can only carry 'X' amount of planks, so how fast you can build is determined by location and stock.
