I recently bought my Rust key for steam.The game seems to be running completely fine without any lag or low fps on my 2013 iMac, although it seems that every at least 5 minutes the game freezes, although every know and then I can play for a bit longer. I was wondering if anyone had any fixes for this problem, thanks!
I know someone that has this kind of problem on an older PC. Can come in but shortly after it just locks up for them. They can still chat and they are moving around following other people but for everyone else they're frozen in one spot.
Pretty sure that they haven't found a workaround for it as of yet.
I can't chat or move at all once frozen, and have to force quit.
I also am getting a black screen in rust every now and then when joining a server.
Try to play in windowed mode. If the problem still exist, right click on rust. on Steam, Properties > add launcher parameters and type -force-d3d9

Black screen only when you join a server ? Or sometimes you can play without problems ? Have you same problems, or freezes on others games ?
I can sometimes play without problems, but they game freezes after every 5 or 10 minutes
And with others games ? Are you sure you have not a overheating problem ?
You can try to repair cache files, check integrity on steam and check if your drivers are up-to-date
