I am getting pretty tired of logging onto these forums and being flooded with posts of people complaining about PvP or dying or suggesting ways to make it harder to kill people. The developers have already stated several times that they are NOT going to be removing the PvP element, nor are they going to be making any major changes to it as it is directly in line with how they want the game to be. A complete sandbox where you can pretty much do whatever you want as long as you don't die. This game is meant to show the harsh realities of a world where the rule of survival is to kill or be killed. To show the importance of safety in numbers. Also, to think strategically when you build.
I, like many others, when first purchasing the game must have died about 15 times starting out by players running around killing and looting. Did I complain? No. I kept practicing. Now I can log onto any PVP server and have a hidden away, decent house built within 30 minutes, and lay low while collecting resources. Sure, sometimes someone raids me and I wake up with just a rock in my hand again, but do I get angry? Nope. That's just the way the world works. Shit happens. Back to the drawing board.
That being said, sure, I hope that as the game is developed the team decides to add more elements which make PVP not so much the main focus or draw of the game, and more of a necessity of survival. Justifying killing by having resources become more scarce, or fuel for your different tools, or ammo, or what have you --- so that it's people killing to actually get the things they need, instead of jacked up Kevlar toting CoD players with backpacks full of ammo and resources that are just killing other people for fun. And by watching their Trello (https://trello.com/b/lG8jtz6v/rust), you can see that they are indeed moving in that direction. Replacing some of the more high-tech, modern weapons with hand crafted ones instead. I believe that by the end product, things like Kevlar and M4 rifles will be very hard to acquire, making it more of an sense of pride when you finally get them. Also, it will make people think twice about raiding if they come to a player's camp and see a couple guys walking around with M4s because all they have are some pipe shotguns and hand cannons.
BUT PVP IS NOT GOING TO BECOME HARDER. THEY ARE NOT GOING TO PUNISH PEOPLE FOR PARTICIPATING. AND IT'S SURE NOT GONNA BE TAKEN OUT. Get used to it.
If you do not want to die there are some simple things you can do:
- Play on a friggin' PVE server FFS.
- Find a server with a low population.
- Stop building your huts by the resources (that's just dumb) and find a place nobody wants to go.
- MAKE SOME FRIENDS. This game is meant to express the importance of safety in numbers.
- Stop trying to build a MASSIVE BASE right off the bat. Make a small, hidden hut, and spend a couple days acquiring resources to build.
- Get better at the game. Plain and simple. Practice more. Accept dying as a natural part of Rust life, suck it up and drive on.
- And finally, KILL THEM BEFORE THEY KILL YOU. Duh. Does this even need to be said? Instead of just sitting there screaming "I'M FRIENDLY!" into your mic while you're being shot to death, SHOOT BACK! Don't just let yourself be killed and then come onto the forums to complain.
Bitch about PVP
CONTINUE going to PVP servers.

Some people just don't learn.
I only bitch about desyncing and getting killed while I'm desynced since generally it's because I'm gathering resources when it happens.
Other than that... if I die because I get shot while attempting to shoot another back... it's my own ass... got nothing to say at that point.
I could not agree more with this. The "I need a nerf to play properly" posts are becoming the new "Join my server" posts. I still do not understand why someone would buy a game of this genre with all of its descriptions of survival and then ask to have dangers removed from the game. It is very sad.
So you're bitching about people bitching about PvP? Hypocrite.
Agree with a lot, but also disagree. PvP is a core part of the game sure, but according to their plans current PvP will be massively different from what they actually have in mind.
U
That, however, is a good thing.
PvP right now is very basic, basically run and gun with hitscan weaponry.
PvP needs to be in the game, but on a different, more balanced scale. Thankfully, the devs seem to have already realized this and have a more or less clear idea about how to do it.
Removing PvP would be a joke though. Balancing however, is needed.

The trolls come out early don't they? You have 3 posts. Until your post count rivals near the 20's without a ban... I'd say tread lightly on the mundane retorts and trolling. They're pretty adamant about bans here. All it takes is some stupidity and you land in the ban pile.

If you read my post again, you'll see that I said that by watching their Trello you can see they are making PvP more balanced and out of necessity instead of just for the hell of it.

Someone who refers to post count really needs to get a life.

Yeah i know. But for example, when you say PvP isn't going to become harder... Well it kind of is.
However, it'll be harder to execute successfully, not harder to participate in.
Is going to require skill and tactics, not sheer numbers.
So you're bitching about people bitching about PvP? Hypocrite.
No he is stating a fact that this is how the gameplay is and will always be. It was always intended this way.
What really makes me laugh is when players come here and say that the guns are too easy to make and that the guns should be nerfed in the same post. They are too easy to make, yet they can't seem to make them. I do not know how half of these people get dressed in the morning. :D

if no one addressed it then how would it get fixed???
This is exactly how I feel EVERY time I log into this forum, I'm still getting used to the game myself and see my death as a failure on MY part and not that of another player. I shouldn't have gone out on my own or I should have kept to the tree line, each death leads me to change my strategy a little and learn from it.
Someone who refers to post count really needs to get a life.
And you need to just stop while you're ahead. You're not doing yourself any justice whatsoever. Only adding insult to injury for yourself while we will continue to be here and all the while you'll receive a ban. Just quit. The post was reference to tell you they avidly ban trolls for stupid remarks... which you're teetering on the brink of.
Seriously, if you wan't to troll... go back to the LLJK forums or Reddit and get off of here... you'll be gone before you've started.
