I quit the game last week and I don't want to play again until they can't just walk straight through doors anymore.
NOPE! They are still walking through...:yarr:
Same here, gave up until these things are fixed. People asking me if they should buy the game, unfortunately I have to direct them to another game until these major issues are fixed. :/
That new whitelist mod that kicks everyone who's not on the whitelist should help though, I think it's a great idea while the hackers problem is still around.
didnt play this game for a while either, i start slowly regret that i bought it... i cant even play smooth. its like 5 fps no matter how much i change files/configs/settings it stays completely the same. i even had a dream where i KOSed 3 people on the fly, but when i woke up i realized thats impossible, my fucking game stutters!!
P.S. the more near im to RAD towns, the more it starts getting all slideshow. its normal if im somewhere else.

You're the only one facing issues with FPS drops..
I'm running the game on 1920x1200 on highest settings and haven't experienced any FPS drops

You can contact Steam to get a refund of the game, I contacted them also because of hackers as the game is literally unplayable (max lifespan 5min) and I'm currently waiting for an answer. I'm not sure if they refunds the game because its alpha but you can always try.
They just did a security update which I believe dealt with some of this.

Have you not seen every other thread complaining about FPS drops?
Have you not seen every other thread complaining about FPS drops?
Me and 9 other friends who are playing this game, have not reported any issues with low FPS.
could be due to low computer specs.
I'm running
i7-4770k at 4.8 GHz
16GB DDR-1600
GTX 770 SC
I have i7 4770k @ 4,2ghz
16gb ram
Gtx780ti oc edition
And the game runs about 150-200 fps
When there are HUGE buildings i go really short slutterings to render them.

Yeah you're right, I just went on to try and at least get some wood to repair my base if it had started decaying. I got some resources, met a bloke who gave me a gun and kevlar, went back to my base shortly afterwards, and then got raided by the bloke who gave me the gun and kevlar (and his mate). Well, I say "raided". I have 20 or so floors of tower and steel doors they waltzed straight through to get to me.

Alpha or not, Steam doesn't do refunds.
thats why i always buy with paypal..... paypal has NEVER denied me a refund
Man, there's a lot of stupidity going around the forums. Some kind of epidemic, I'd imagine.
No, the latest patch did not stop the hackers. It's their first hacking patch. Clearly it's not going to be perfect.
Did you all just, like, forget you purchased a game in the alpha-stage? Do you know what alpha-stage means? It means the game is not yet at the point where the company feels comfortable calling it a game. It's not done yet, dumbasses. You should expect FPS issues. You should expect rampant hacking.
In fact, the devs WANT hackers stealing your things and ruining your gaming. That probably sounds counter-intuitive at first, but a little bit of thinking fixes that right quick. More hackers means more exploits. If the devs don't have some kind of exploit-tracking system, surely they have the logical capacity to think around the problem - in any case, this means that the more ways skiddies try to break the game, the more ways the devs have to strengthen the game.
Most or all of the architecture will either be reworked, rethought, or re-examined before it reaches beta stage, much less release. Maybe contemporary game development initiatives are too bold for you, but releasing a game in alpha does not mean it's done. It does not even necessarily mean it's good. If you voluntarily enter a gaming community when the game is at alpha (PAYING for it, no less), you shouldn't expect polish and shine. You should expect to drag yourself through it painfully and slowly, like a messy divorce or surviving a plane crash. Enjoy what fun you find, but you honestly should EXPECT all this bullshit you're complaining about. Use your head. Don't whine.
Addendum: if Steam gives refunds to all the people crying for them because of hackers or FPS issues, I'll be very disappointed in Valve.

Could be a C state issue too... are your cores unparked?

Really? have you not seen the gazzillion threads about render issues and fps? i have a top end pc and cannot play this game because somewhere somehow i have some realtek driver for my ethernet that conflicts with rust.
I just viewed this thread, laughed and giggled, Logged on to continue building my base just to find myself with a rock, respawned at camp and all my crates are empty, all walls / doors intact, i cry..
I guess i'll wait with the rest of my friends untill its at least not so very easy to hack

Running a refund from PayPal on your Steam account gives Valve all rights to close your Steam account for fraud until it's solved.

FPS is fine. Its people's potato computers and mental issues.
Today I've joined Germany 2. After hours of gathering stuff I managed to build a quite secure base with several storage boxes and metal doors. Sadly people just keep walking through my doors or just look through my walls and loot the boxes :)

You clearly need to make a base that you can't enter by walking through doors or walls.

You'll likely have better luck on a community server... even better you could find a modded server that uses a whitelist and get in contact with the admin to get added to the list.
The server will likely be smaller and less crowded, but also much less likely to be constantly overrun by cheaters.

How do I find out who the admins are?
I really don't understand why people are complaining about not being able to run the game because of graphics issues.... I'm running it perfectly on a 3-year-old mid-range laptop.
Anyway, FPS and Hacking issues appear to be right up at the top of the priority list for the developers.

Your best bet is to look through the server subforums here.
It might be a bit of a dig to find one that has what you want, gets back to you in a timely manner, and is close enough geographically that you get a decent ping.
How do I find out who the admins are?
Check server presentation posts. As an example: http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1343782
They will mostly have a forum or similiar where you can apply to get onto the whitelist.

Strongly disagree - stopping cheats in this game by virtue of VAC is explicitly valve's responsibility both financially and ethically. If they can't get their act together and do that then they should a) be ashamed of themselves and b) refund people.
Sure it is alpha but the way VAC works means it's going to be an (unnecessarily) long time until they're banned in numbers - they should be coming down on these people like a ton of proverbial bricks.
Put another way, sure the game is alpha - but VAC certainly isn't so plainly is not an excuse.

I think a lot of the problem is that FPS in Rust really has nothing to do (or rather, not much to do) with raw power of the machine. Since the game is not very optimized it's kind of all over the board when it comes to this gfx card or that one.
Even people with top-of-the-line rigs have issues running the game at lowest settings sometimes, and people with crappy 10-yr-old laptops can run the game just fine... It's all a little random :/
I have a mid-low range pc that's a few years old now, runs the game just fine, maybe little drops of FPS here and there. However, I do have to do grass.on false or else the grass flickers constantly.

VAC takes time to get going, it has to log things and watch people for a while before it will start banning. There was a large wave of bans just a week or so ago.
In the coming months I expect that VAC will be banning people every week at least. If VAC really does take up to 3-4 months to ban people then it makes sense that it would take time for the process to really become apparent in the first few months after the game gets released on Steam.
