sorry for the idiotic questions...
so I bought a sever from gameservers.com and its working and running completely fine.
but the problem im having is ,
how do I make myself as admin( I don't even know if I am admin or how to tell)?
I also downloaded Rusty for admin control and commands, but every command I type is saying invalid?
someone please explain literally step by step on what to do , I would be very grateful !
Only reason I bought a server was because I was fed up harvesting thousands of items , building my base and completely securing it for the sever to be whipped every week without a backup as I got told you could backup what you have had.
Yours will be wiped too.
Either that or never update it and have issues.
It's what happens when a game is updated nonstop.

enter the command server.writecfg
then enter ownerid 111111111111 Name except put your steam id number instead of all the ones and put your name where I typed name
so when I do mine it's ownerid 76561197962402383 MeatCircus Just to show you what the command should look like
then enter server.writecfg 1 more time
Then join your server and you're admin, right now there's not a whole lot you can do as that though unless you're running mods that allow admin to do various things
You can however give yourself any resource you want by hitting F1 and typing it in the console
For example inventory.give wood 1000000 or inventory.give metal_fragments 1000000
Hope that helps but you will still be wiping the server often as that is pretty much the state of the game right now, it's an alpha with frequent updates.

Most updates [B]force[/B] the servers to wipe. There is [B]no way[/B] to stop it from wiping - it is an automated process which happens when the server starts.
Not updating the server will not work. If your game client version doesn't match the server version, you will not be able to play on it.
Unless you never update your game client - but then you'll be playing alone forever.

Right ok I tried what you said regarding how to make myself as admin and it's still not working or letting me give myself inventory, any ideas?
