There is a hacker with the name Omega symbol killing everyone within a half mile of him and decaying everyones house(All their hard earned loot). This is Official NA1 Stress Test. We need a roll back. Steam ID: http://steamcommunity.com/id/7828937402839513133/ Edit: I know I am going to get another ban for this but this issue is worth getting banned.
This is a huge issue. He has destroyed the server.
The official servers are a joke anyway. I can barely move without rubberbanding.
The official servers are a joke anyway. I can barely move without rubberbanding.
Regardless of that the ability to destroy a server is a game ending exploit. If this where to go unpatched might as well ask for your refund now.
The official servers are a joke anyway. I can barely move without rubberbanding.
There really not that bad. Sometimes it gets ddos'd but 90% of the time it is very playable.
This happened on the North America 4 server this morning. Omega logged on and killed everyone in the game, destroyed all crates and items. He openly bragged about it in game chat and also on the Steam forums. We also want a rollback of North America 4. This guy (Omega) is wreaking havoc and it doesn't seem that anyone can stop him... I was hoping that the official servers would be able to be rolled-back, but I guess the same thing happened on the European servers last week and the team did NOT roll the server back. Gary, can we please get a response to what's going on? This is really impacting a lot of people... in a bad way.
If you do plan to do a rollback, please do not rollback 24 hours... Just gained a few blueprints and it wouldnt be fair to rollback that long. Omega wiped everything on NA1.

Omega wiped everything on NA1.
He wiped NA 4 earlier today, so we need a longer rollback. Gary, if you can't roll back the servers, just wipe the official servers completely and let us all start fresh. It looks like on NA 4, 95% of the people lost everything, but some didn't lose anything, which is giving an unfair advantage to certain groups. Nuke all the official servers... or roll them back a day and patch the server code so Omega can't play God.
Well no matter that we now have cheatpunch and vac but official servers need offcial admin on them...
Its kinda pathetic that they won't help these servers...
This is a huge issue. He has destroyed the server.
Yup. He completely destroyed North America 4 this morning. Lost everything, causing everyone to quit playing the game out of frustration.
Yup. He completely destroyed North America 4 this morning. Lost everything, causing everyone to quit playing the game out of frustration.
Which is why it needs a reset
Which is why it needs a reset
Agreed. Server is completely unplayable. Hackers are also trying to kill this hacker, its a mess. This type of hack will make players want to stop playing rust. It is advisable to reset or roll back the server.
Probably the only solution to do away with the cheaters and play quietly - to become the owner of the server. Cheaters killed this game.
North America 1 player here. The worst possible thing would be to let the hacker win. He's been on the server for two hours now...
North America 1 player here. The worst possible thing would be to let the hacker win. He then proceeded to brag about it in game chat and on the Steam forums saying that it "needed to be done" and that the "King has come."

I would love to be playing right now, but I don't see a point in restarting when I don't know whether it will all be rolled back or not.
Agreed. Server is completely unplayable. Hackers are also trying to kill this hacker, its a mess. This type of hack will make players want to stop playing rust. It is advisable to reset or roll back the server.
Agreed. The same thing happened on NA 4 -- hackers were trying to fight him, as they viewed Omega as a threat. No success, however, as Omega's script was more powerful than the collective hackers' efforts. [editline]16th February 2014[/editline] Here's a link to Omega's Steam profile: http://steamcommunity.com/id/7828937402839513133/ You can try reporting him through Steam, but it doesn't seem to do much of anything. He's openly bragging about it on the Steam Rust forums. [editline]16th February 2014[/editline]
Yes. I would love to be playing right now, but I don't see a point in restarting when I don't know whether it will all be rolled back or not.
Same here. We started playing and then stuff starting disappearing again -- like new crates we placed with items, so there's really no point. They should roll the servers back 24 hours, that way the loss would be minimal. My worry is that this will cause a lot of people to stop playing completely. I knew there would eventually be server wipes, as its alpha, but I thought that would come from the development team rather than a hacker.
In addition to anticheat can add players statistics collection: - If the player high above the surface many times (flyhack). - If a player is in different places in a short time (speedhack). - If a player is dealt a lot of damage to other players for a short time (aimbot). Ban cheaters for everything. Maybe this is stupid, I'm not a programmer and not a statistician.

Sometimes i lag and it thinks i speed hack and kicks me for trying to walk through a door. Shooting people to get a ban? no...

Only good solution is to have 24/7 Admins on offcial servers,if they are official theres need to be and official admin.

The official servers are pretty much broken at this point...
Posting SteamID since he can change his steam profile link at will STEAM_0:1:80035700
Garry answer! Will we get a roll back? It would be fine if you gave NA1 a 6 hours roll back and NA4 a 24 hour. Seems like you don't really care.

The thread was just started 4 hours ago!

Seems like you don't really care.
Gary, if you can, we really do need a rollback on the servers. If it can't be done, a total wipe is in order. One thing that we don’t know is if a certain minority (e.g. friends of the hacker) weren’t targeted by this hack. This could cause a disturbing power dynamic in the game, whereby one group is allowed to dominate the game at the expense of everyone else who were victims of the hacker’s script. It appears that the vast majority of players had everything taken away, but some kept everything... The effect that this had on a lot of players was completely demoralizing. What’s the point of putting weeks of grinding and raiding back into the game, if there are numerous backdoors and points of entry for hackers to just take it away in an instant? I don't mind losing my items to a raid, but not like this... If you can shed any light on this incident, Gary, please do. We really enjoy the game, but these instances are hard to handle.
To correct everyone assuming its a Decay hack... seriously are you listening to yourselfs? Decay is SERVER SIDED. Every single decay instance is server handled there is no possibility that a client can control it all they get from it is the decay damage for objects from it. It's basically a giant AOE of a melee weapon, it's possible because if you didn't notice appearntly damage packets aren't checked by the server at all so that's the most likely candidate. Also these hacks are actual hacks, they're not done by the script kiddies as you may tell because if it was purchasable of public knowledge every server would of been wiped. Also I don't think garry would rollback the server due to the lag that's starting to occur it'd be much better for him to do a complete wipe.
With the $20+ million, you'd think they could hire an admin for the official servers. You could just as easily claim any Admin they hire is BIAS. Most common hacks such as Speed Hacking and Jump Hacking are detected and aimbot can be hard too prove. I've gotten around six chain headsets with a sniper and hackusated of aimbot and even banned from some servers because of it. I've played Runescape and must of sunken atleast 2,500 hours easily along with my friends and times changed, that game I no longer find any fun in playing and do I considered it wasted? nope. It doesn't matter when it happens the point of the game is to have FUN if you're putting in even more weeks of grinding/raiding if this wants to make you quit go and take a break and come back to this game in a few months and have some more fun.

The official servers are VERY over due for one. There has been multiple posts expressing the want/need for wipes. Sorry we don't know the technical stuff. All we know is lots of stuff was destroyed by one person.
This omega guy destroyed UK 1/2/3/4 and Belgium. I don't know about Germany 1/2 but after he destroyed Belgium I went in UK1 and saw the Omega guy spamming his idiot stuff "I am your god, king. This kingdom needs cleansing" like W**!?" are you serious?I went in UK2 to tell people to get their stuff and run to wasteland but it was too late..and he's still not VAC banned? Ok....
