• How to open Rust Beta?

Ok, maybe im wrong, but my friends keep talking about some rust beta you can play. I cant seem to figure out how to switch to it.
there's rust and there's rust experimental. when you open it in steam, you get two radio buttons to select which version you want to play. there is no beta at present
Or if it doesn't have the window pop up, go into your Steam Library, right-click Rust and click "try experimental" :)
There actually is a "beta" - its the expermintal version, though if you sign in to beta, you get updates more often, rather than more at once. Right click Rust -> Properties -> Betas -> Select experimental, and close. :)

Normally a game would be released either as Complete or in Beta (ie playtesting); Steam has a settings area to opt in to Beta versions of games to allow players access to variant game modes or older legacy versions of games. Rust is an Early Access game that is still in Alpha (ie foundation programming and concept work) but the Experimental Build that is being updated used to only be accessible through the "Beta" options menu. Now when you run Rust via Steam it gives you the option to choose between the Legacy and Experimental builds, so you don't have to muck around with the settings like that.

It's the "stable" experimental build, as oxymoronic as that appears at first. Opting into Experimental STAY AWAY gives you the patches as soon as they're compiled and uploaded to Steam. So, there is still a reason to mess with the Betas tab, but only if you're ready for still-bleeding raw patches.
