• So what is the best server host currently?

I'm wondering what is considered to be the best server host in terms of value and performance. I've heard that HFB allows you to have much needed mods and admin addons, but they suffer from lag and performance problems... Then there is Multiplay which has good performance but no mods and limited control over the server?? Is there really no provider that gives good performance with control of server atm? Thanks.
Our HFB server is currently down.
And Doesn't HFB take ages to go online when you buy it?
And Doesn't HFB take ages to go online when you buy it?
No.
Well, it seems like HFB is the only option that lets you actually control the server.
i have playrust.eu there support is fast but rude and normally one sided. Though after they decided to go with oxide its been pretty decent
When i ordered my HFB server it was up in 4 minutes with all the instructions in E-mail. They noticed a bug in the server mods and already released a patch that is available for download in the server control panel.
fpsplayers is awesome tbh. Very quick to respond on support and server is always running smooth. Love my server.
fpsplayers is awesome tbh. Very quick to respond on support and server is always running smooth. Love my server.
I have an HFB server... initial setup was fast and easy. After that it got bad. They seem understaffed... takes a LONG time to get support. 3 out of 4 days I've had the server, I've been down to DDOS attacks for 12 hours each day. That's because when they get attacked they take the whole server cluster down for 12 hours. So they enable DDOS'rs to just DDOS you for 5 mins... but get 12 hours of grief out of it. My server is not even the one getting DDOS'd but if you are on the same node as the one that is, they take all the servers on that node down, since we don't have individual IP's, just ports. They've talked about individual IP's but nothing yet. If you want better DDOS protection they want an extra 50 bucks a month for that, but not only is it expensive, but I am skeptical they can deliver. Guess I can't really blame them for the acts of disturbed internet kids, but on the other hand I feel like if they can't protect me, then they can't really deliver the service I (think) I am paying for. I tried to setup a server that actively banned hackers, so people could actually play the game as intended. Naive I suppose. Those kids are relentless psychopaths who seek only chaos and destruction and seem to get immense happiness from it. HFP does provide easy tools to install Rust ++ or Oxide now. One click installs. Super easy. Unfortunately when your server is down 40% of the time, it's tough to get players to enjoy it. Tickets get responded to in anywhere from 1 to 14 hours... averaging around 8-10 hours right now. There is no other way to communicate with them that I have found. I've heard of Skype access but can't find it. All that said, their staff are polite and helpful... there just don't seem to be enough of them to get the job done for the amount of customers they have. My guess is that their aggressive pricing has overloaded them in the short term.
We have used http://www.rustgameservers.com/ for almost three months now and are quite satisfied.

No problems whatsoever with my HFB server located in The Netherlands.

Wish FPSplayers had lower prices like HFB. It is about 11 dollars more for a 100 slot server.
It seems like some people here have had a good and fast experience with HFBServers but they have been quite slow getting mine setup. It's been 16 hours now and no word from them on when it will be ready. I know they say it can take up to 24 hours but I imagine that's just to give them some leeway in case of an emergency. I'm not so impatient that I can't wait that long if I have to but it would be nice if they were faster. All I'm saying is if getting your server going right now is important to you then maybe consider another host.
They must be needing to add more physical servers in the area you picked for your server location. They usually have a server up and going in just a few minutes after the order is placed.

That was a couple hours ago and I have yet to hear from them. I've done support and server admin work before so I know things can go wrong, you can have outages, DDos attacks, all your service people can be busy but I'd at least like an indication on the sign up page that servers for a particular region are unavailable/going to take longer than normal
And Doesn't HFB take ages to go online when you buy it?
YES. 72 hours after purchase and they still tell my clan leader they are having trouble getting us our server....
HFB is slow and unreliable. Their control panel usually takes 30 - 120 seconds between when you click on something and when something happens. Thus it can take 5-10 minutes just to access the file manager. The server is a little laggier than our multiplay server. But at least it has FTP, I guess.
All host, including Multiplay, I think were caught off guard for the massive and immediate demand for Rust servers. Hardware doesn't grow on trees as they say and this can take some time to provision. For us, to simply overload servers to make setups faster was just not an option. We currently have about 50 servers testing oxide and hope to have all the mods available for one click install by the end of the week.
fpsplayers is awesome tbh. Very quick to respond on support and server is always running smooth. Love my server.
I've been suffering problems with fps. Server was down few times for like 8 hours or so because of DDOS attacks. After the last updates the server went down for more than 8 hours and when they restored the service my server ip has changed and the server was 'wiped'. All buildings are gone, ppl just have stuff that was in their inventory. I asked them what happened and they said maybe it was because of the update, which wasn't because after the update I was able to play on the server and everything was ok. Then they got DDOS attacked and I lose all my server data. I'm willing to change companies but as far I know all of them are the same crap. So maybe the answer is play something else until garry allow more host companies to host their game (which would suck).

Not saying you're bullshitting, just throwing in my $0.02 Our server was up and running with players in it within 15 minutes. Aside from last night where the cpanel was down for maintenance, it has been acceptably responsive.
HFBservers - Quick setup and support seems reasonable. I've had a few issues with them getting back to me on a few questions. FPSplayers - 24-48 hours for a server setup. Quick support responses from my experience and even gave me a refund after a few days
I have had none of these issues with our HFB server. Not saying you're bullshitting, just throwing in my $0.02
Hopefully we're the minority. I hate seeing cheap providers deliver crap service and then try to explain it away with "what do you want, we're the cheapest there is".
And Doesn't HFB take ages to go online when you buy it?
Only took about 10 minutes from the time I submitted my payment to when it was online and I logged into it.
well it's been almost 24 hours and still no server from HFB. If it goes past 24 hours I'm going to see if I can cancel. Are there any server providers with a good reputation or are they all this bad about communication?

However, I currently have some beef with them. I JUST submitted a ticket because the FTP address and port are no longer listed on my TCAdmin and there is no option to browse the file system anymore. I asked them if they removed these features or if it is just a temporary change or something... waiting to hear back, only been like 15 minutes. If they did, in fact, remove these features I'll be awaiting a refund for this month of service that I paid for, since FTP access is clearly listed on the Rust server page on their site. EDIT: I also got a PM from someone with HFB on this forum yesterday asking about a ticket I had referenced, I sent a reply and never heard back... Slowly getting more and more frustrated. EDIT #2: TCAdmin is now down for maintenance, hopefully they are putting FTP and file browsing back.
I've read through these posts. I started out purchasing an HFB server. They took my money and didn't give me the server or respond to my inquiries. I canceled the order. And when they responded that I got my refund, the guy was so unprofessional, he's lucky he wasn't standing in front of me. I then tried FPS. They were four bucks more a month, but I don't mind paying a little more. They were even worse though. I spent three days waiting to hear back from them. So I canceled that order. So I had the option of going back to HFB or spend twice as much just to see if another host had decent service. I ended up going back to HFB. The second time around, I had my server within a couple hours. I haven't had any of the problems the other people have had. One night during the ddos crap, my server crashed three times in a thirty minute span, but that's all. Maybe twice in the last week, some people have experienced lag, and that lasted less than thirty minutes each time. One of the times, they were performing maintenance. However, now I have a new problem. Since the ddos crap three days ago, I have a player that can't connect, so he and three friends are playing on another server until he can log back into mine. And today, HFB removed my ability to access my files, such as the output log. I've submitted a ticket, but to be honest, I'm not expecting a very speedy response. Edit: My control panel is down again. Perhaps they're giving us back access to our files. Edit2: Looks like the poster above me is going through similar things with them.

And will have the same response from me if they aren't giving back ftp access etc.. That is, refund and bye bye!
