• Can my computer handle Rust? {COMPUTER SPEC CHECK}

Hey guys, I have been playing rust for a week or two now and I am finding it very hard to play on even the worst settings possible. I would like to be able to play and RECORD! I use fraps to record for my youtube channel. I am about to purchase a Graphics Card because that is the component thats slowing my computer down and would like to know if you think the graphics card is good enough to run rust on good settings whilst recording. My current PC specification is: - 8BG RAM - 1TB Hard Drive - Dual Core AMD Processor - 3.5GHZ - (But the graphics card is old so I was thinking of upgrading it to a --> http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-Nvidia-GeForce-DirectCU-Graphics/dp/B0082FIW96/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1396780242&sr=8-1&keywords=asus+gtx+670#productDetails Summary of Question: Will this computer with the new Graphics card be able to record and run Rust on high quality settings without any lag? Thanks to anybody that answers :333 (User was banned for this post ("Didn't read the sticky" - Craptasket))
Your dual-core AMD processor is likely a large culprit, although you didn't specify what model it is, and you didn't tell us what your video card actually is, just that it's old, so it's hard to know. With a dual-core AMD, I don't think you're going to be able to happily run Rust and record on high settings. P.S. why did you make a new thread instead of asking in this thread? It's in the rules sticky. [editline]7th April 2014[/editline] That advertisement option in your poll is probably a very poor decision.
Oh gawd that channel plug is ridiculous.
Oh gawd that channel plug is ridiculous.
Channel plug?
People who advertise their youtube channel in their very first post, especially in a totally gratuitious way as you have here, tend to experience adverse situations.
I put too many slots in my poll, so I filled it with that, I'm sorry :'(. I beg the Rust community to forgive me :)
If you really want something to be done about it, PM postal about it: http://facepunch.com/member.php?u=8190
Why? Who is he? What should I say, ill just remove the poll :p
He's a moderator. And this thread breaks at least two of his rules which I linked you to in my first post here.
Channel plug?
You're advertising your channel in a silly way, or, "plugging," it. (slang)
you probably knew the rules you just tried to sneak the link in there
you know you're shitty at videos when you have to advertise like THAT
My old computer had no trouble running it on Fantastic. For Graphics Card I had a Radeon 6570 1GB I have no idea about recording.

So seeing as my computer is simular to the one you have listed.
This computer should play and record at max. I can play and record at max setting with fraps with my rig CPU: i7-3630QM @ 2.4 GHz GPU: GTX 675M 2GB DDR5 RAM: 16GB (15.95 usable) DDR3 Records in 1080p at anywhere from 18 - 30 fps. so your computer should record at atleast a watchable and playable level. your gpu is better then mine and your cpu is clocked much better. I can probably just do more things at the same time but if you only run fraps and rust you should out preform me. (also mine is a laptop).

well you dont really need a new GPU but it can never hurt. Your GTX 670 will run circles around my 675M (notice the M for moblie, mine is roughly a GTX 550ti desktop equivalent)

But at the moment I'm playing rust on the lowest settings with heavy lag. So what would you recommend to make it run smoother if it inst a graphics card?
do you free up every 20 seconds for like a second? if so its a driver conflict issue but other then that i dont know because rust runs fine at 30 fps at max setting. Some latency issues but nothing too bad EDIT: reread and fixed some errors
