Hi Everyone I`m playing Rust on an macbook air and I really like this game. There is one small thing that bothers me : the fan is running all the time and it gets hot. I usually reduce the fps, but commands like fps_max XX do not work. How can I reduce fps to 20-30 ? Can`t figure it out !! Please help. thx Karu
Try enabling vsync in the options menu
I did, this doesn't help anything. 60 fps is too much, the macbook has LCD anyway. There is no console command ??
There is really nothing ?? Any ideas for solving this problem ? There must be players out there with the same problem.

VSync is your best bet. There aren't a lot of game who enabled setting lower FPS than 60. I think you just need a new computer.
I'm still trying to figure why are you playing on a macbook air..

I already suggested this a long time ago, along with a field of view option No word on it - and these are two things that EVERY pc game needs/requires

vsync limits to what your monitor can do, which is typically 60... try playing windowed? lower resolution?
vsync limits to what your monitor can do, which is typically 60... try playing windowed? lower resolution?
v-sync adds massive input lag, and if your framerate drops from that 60 while v-sync is on it begins to stutter/increase input lag I'm not even sure why v-sync exists, on a side note on high quality 120hz+ monitors and above tearing is non existant
I tried everything to slow it somehow down. I played WoW on this mac with 20fps, worked perfectly fine !! fps_max - I miss these six letters ;)

I believe (correct me if I am wrong) that v-sync waits for the entire frame to be rendered before showing it, thus removing screen tearing. It has always been a problem with me, noticeable on several computers with different hardware setups, if v-sync is unavailable.
I tried everything to slow it somehow down. I don't know how that's even possible.
30 fps ist perfectly fluent, 20 fps is working fine for me. I guess that 30 fps would be perfect for RUST as well.
