Why is it just a test map? Its cool.
Once they build new tools for map creation, they're likely to want to build a new map with them in mind. However now it looks like they're going to have them procedurally generated.
Due to procedural map generation. The game you are playing right now is not the actual finished Rust product. The entire code is being revamped, everything from the map, skybox, lighting, items, death, weapons, etc.
[QUOTE=HolyCinnamon;44509929]Why is it just a test map? The characters (used to) and gun models are from the bootcamp unity demo thing. Eventually theyll create their own from scratch, like with the playermodel, and it will be a lot better
I can't wait to see new maps, but also hope the keep it as a rust classic mode or something.

They have dayz chenarus, some island thing, a desert map, a big city/mountain map. Cant remember the names, but for each one you had to pretty much redownload dayz and the map because it was modified to work with it

This does not mean that the entire place would become Minecraft, but the terrain would be a random layout instead of loading the exact same mapfile for everyone.
